My chromebook just auto updated to an earlier version of chrome os and I had to do a manual update to get it back to the current version. Is this normal?

That's very weird, I haven't heard of that happening before

@techtimewithtimmy Got the chromebook last week. After it started up and ran all the updates, it was running on the current version. The update that came today is from July 2023! After it updated, I had to run a manual update to get it back to the current version. Acer and Google have no good answer.

I have an issue, i know my Chromebook is pretty behind on updates but when i checked for new updates it said it was up to date.

Not all Chromebooks get updates at the same time, if it's only a bit behind, you might just need to wait for another update to become available for your specific Chromebook. Or, if your Chromebook is very old, it may have reached its end of updates date, at which point it will no longer get new updates. Unfortunately there would be nothing you could do about that. You could also just try restarting your Chromebook, in case it's some temporary glitch.
