Great comparison video. Thanks for all your hard work in testing these cameras. I have the FZ80 and use it for wildlife and have been quite surprised at the shots and video I have gotten. As with any camera, understanding it limits and playing to it's strengths is the best way to get good results. There is always a compromise to be made so choose the features that are important to you and most importantly, get out and use it.🙂

Hi there! I've been thinking a lot in buying either HX400V or a A6000. My budget is really low and I really want to start with a better camera (currently I'm using a compact samsung camera 😂) I love the idea of not having to buy lenses since they're kinda expensive and watching your videos about bridge cameras is just really helpfull! You're a master when it comes to explain these cameras and maybe you're like the only youtuber that put effort in these type of content ("old" bridge cameras) thanks a lot dude!! I'm gonna try with that HX400V since the "perfect" camera doesn't exist, thanks again and sorry for my english, not my first language!

HX400V is a capable and less known camera. It's not exactly on the same league with the rest of these cameras due to its age but if you forgive the viewfinder and are willing to edit some photos, hit / miss ratio is very high on that camera in nature photography setting and that says something. Since you mentioned budget as a constraint, an alternative could be B700 which is pretty much a small P950 with many of the same features and optical quality. A hidden gem.

I liked your presentation because it talked about the advantages/disadvantages when used for a particular purpose. Based on the type of pictures I want to talk I now have a much clear understanding of which cameras give me what I need. FYI: The EU law requiring all electronic devices that use a cable to charge the device must be USB-C. Products without it are not allowed to be sold in the EU. This impacts a number of the cameras reviewed.

I'm glad it can help! Greetings to you in the Bronx (which is where I assume you are from based on your name!) It will be interesting to see how that new EU law affects some of the current models. Hopefully Panasonic and Sony and Canon or even Nikon will update them like they did with the FZ80 but hopefully a more substantial upgrade.

Excellent video and thanks for the comparision. I just started to re-visit bridge cameras. On the secondary market they can be quite cheap and occasions you can find NOS ( never opened box) I picked up 2 Pentax bridge cameras the X-5 and the Pentax XG-1. My favorite is the X-5. Like any of these bridge cameras there are sometimes quirks and cons with them, But knowing that if you don't push the camera too hard you can get some stunning results. I was able to do client work with the X-5 having that zoom made it so much easier that to have to swich lens on a DSLR. Great content as always and thanks for sharing!

And the iZoom is impressive. I tried the RX10iv before I got my FF gear and it’s really impressive as long as the light is good enough, but the FZ300 is more fun to use and I don’t really know why.

Great video as always. I recently got the RX10 IV and I love it. One thing I'll disagree with you on is the slow motion capability of the RX10 IV. Other than the RX100 IV and above, there aren't any other consumer cameras that can shoot 1000fps. I get that the quality at 1000fps is poor, but being able to shoot a bird take off at 600mm and 1000fps is unheard of in consumer electronics. I haven't played around with 120fps and 240fps on my RX10 IV, but from your videos, the quality seems to be much better. Perhaps on par with the Panasonic competition. Keep up the quality videos. You need way more subscribers and views. I turn my off adblock and give you a reload for the adsense.

@techtoremember8096 18 күн бұрын
Thank you sir, much appreciated. My point on the slow mo with the RX10IV really was with the "HFR" mode or what they call "super slow motion" Its very awkward to use in that it only shoots for a few seconds, takes time to render and I find the output quality to be low compared to what the Panasonics can do.. But I think slow motion is always best to do in post production anyway.

Great video! Still, if you're including some discontinued models, then there's probably no more bang-for-your-buck than the old Fujifilm X-S1. Most of its spec.s are pretty middle-of-the-road, but the lens quality is better than ANY of the many Canon bridge cameras I've owned, it has most of the settings and adjustments you'll find on Fuji DSLRs, and while its 2/3 sensor is only half the area of a 1" sensor, it's still a hair more than twice the area of the 1/2.3" sensor on most of the cameras in this video. It's an outstanding value.

Epic collection , i did have all the cameras in this video except fz82 , here is my 2 cents and cameras you can try to help out if you want to make more videos like this, From all the bridge cameras , the most bang for the buck is the FZ1000 mk1 not mk 2 = the mk 2 has new features but the image quality is not good. if money is no option the king of the bridge cameras is rx10iv , the rx10iii autofocus is slow ( it will miss a lot of shots ) In the middle and all rounder p950 or p900 . for the money the p900 is better. For future videos try the Canon g3x its a nice 1` sensor camera .

I am looking for a new bridge camera. I have two Nikon DSLRs and a few years ago I bought a Nikon p900, I loved it as a fun camera that I didn't have to change lenses on, but I did not like the quality of photos as well. I used it on the farm, while boating and so on, but maybe because of the environment I used it in, the lens seized and won't move now. It also had issues with the charging port. Rather than sending the camera across the country for repairs, I have decided to go with a newer camera and a different brand.

This is a great comparison on the bridge division. I have used a d3300 for a few years now mainly for landscapes and nature and absolutely love it for the price! Looking at a bridge to extend my scope when it comes to birding or things slightly out of range of my dslr. Think you’ve got me hooked on the Sony rx10 iv for the situation to carry alongside. That’s my next purchase. It’s a shame this category is fading as it definitely fills a void whilst remaining fairly cheap and light in comparison to big bulky lens.

I wish there is an M43 bridge camera. Actually it should not be far off. Take the Olympus EM-1 III body, with the 12-200 lens. It's around 1kg in weight. But the manufacturer can certainly make it lighter, and the lens a bit brighter if it is a fixed lens version. That would be a very capable and versatile all-in-one camera.

I have had several Lumix incarnations through the years. The FZ80 was fun to use but I was over it within a month. I sold it to a friend. - The FZ1000 was fun too but I was over that about 3 months in especially since it was not weatherized. - The FZ1000ii is what I am using now and have to admit that it too has its shortcomings if you try to exceed the parameters of its limits. Spot Metering has transformed the HUNTING ISSUE WITH AF, now it won't hunt unless I am too close to the subject. EX-M MODE adds 162mm of reach up to 562mm but drops Resolution to 10MP.

Great video, thanks so much for doing it. I've been trying to decide for about a month on a new camera. I recently moved to a place on a tidal river and there are lots of eagles, hawks, seals, etc. (plus the little birds that come to the feeders) I'm waffling between the Sony RX10 lV, the Nikon P950 and the Panasonic FZ 300. Do you have any advice? I'd appreciate your thoughts!
@techtoremember8096
@techtoremember8096 14 күн бұрын
Thank you! To answer your question sounds like your mainly going to use the camera for wildlife and if that's the case I think the P950 might be best. The zoom is utterly ridiculous how close you can get to your subject from so far away. Plus it's not too heavy. As long as you have decent light, it will also give you a nice image. If the wildlife is NOT that far away from you (not sure about your exact situation) then either the FZ300 or Sony RX10 may be better depending on your budget. If you have the budget get the Sony for the best possible image but the FZ300 also is very good as a second choice. But if the wildlife is often very far in the distance, then go with the Nikon!

@@techtoremember8096 Thanks so much for the fast reply! I'm leaning towards the Sony because the wildlife is pretty close. This video has come in handy, as I am looking to pick up a bridge camera very soon. I attend figure skating events and currently use a Panasonic m43 camera (DMC GX85) and I usually get some serviceable shots. (I am not an expert photographer by any means, but I try!) The venue for the next event I am attending does not allow cameras with detachable lenses. I am considering the Panasonic fz300, mainly for the size of the camera and the f2.8 lens, but the sensor size makes me nervous. My other contender(s) are the fz1000 or fz1000 ii. Which option is the best for indoor sports such as figure skating? (I am on a budget, so these are the models I have narrowed my search down to)
@techtoremember8096
@techtoremember8096 7 күн бұрын
Hi there. Thanks for the comment. The larger sensor FZ1000ii will do better in low light because of the larger sensor. If most of your work will be indoors I think you are better off with one of the 1" sensor cameras,either the Panasonic or Sony RX10IV. I would just be careful because those look like professional cameras (even though the lenses are fixed) and you should just make sure they would accept that! As a point I'd like to add, since you mention figure skating, I can see the Panasonic really struggling with autofocus potentially here due to the contrast with the ice, and the fast movement. If you can afford the RX10IV, I think it would be your best bet because the AF is way superior and you'll need it.

25:45 Although the camera will be more bulky than the RX10IV, the internal zoom mechanism should produce less noise than the lens extending outside of the the RX10IV. That is one of the main drawbacks of bridge cameras, so that was a smart design choice. At least, that's what I believe should be the case, from my experience with different types of cameras. I don't personally own either camera. My Fujifilm bridge camera has an especially loud zoom mechanism; so much so that you hear it more in video recordings than you do whatever you are trying to record. The only thing I've found that overpowers the zoom noise is having the camera sticking out the window while driving on the highway.
@techtoremember8096
@techtoremember8096 18 күн бұрын
That's a good point. All these cameras make some noise when zooming so if you're shooting video in a quiet room, it will pick it up. I especially noticed it on the P950. Not sure if it was just my model or not but it seemed louder than the P1000. Agree you won't have that issue with the FZ2500. Pretty crazy about your Fuji bridge camera. Must be an old one!

@@techtoremember8096 It is indeed an older camera. Released over a decade ago as a more budget camera. I'd say the best things about it are the fact that it does _have_ video recording (not good quality), a flash (to be expected), uses SD cards (standard at the time), and a 42x zoom (best thing about it). The screen and viewfinder are low res, the focus misses in what should be ideal situations, the images are grainy at base ISO, the 1080p video is 60 fps interlaced and hardly 720p quality, new batteries (four AA) last about a half hour, and there is no RAW. I have a compact camera that's older than it is, but performs much better in every area, except it's got a 20x zoom compared to 42x. If the camera didn't have such a noisy zoom, and the focus was decent, it would be nice for recording videos with an older look.

Great comparison video, well done. As I've mentioned here before, I have a Nikon B700 which is very similar in features to the P950(shorter lens, but a 20mpxl sensor). It can take decent photos and video but what drives me insane sometimes is how it loses focus in video, particularly if you're zoomed in on something. I can have the subject filling the frame but the camera can lose focus then just drift off back to minimum focus till the image is so fuzzy you can't tell what it is. If the P950 and 1000 does the same I wouldn't even consider them. I have an old Canon SX50HS that zooms quieter, locks focus faster, and holds focus much better than the B700. If the SX70 acts similar to the 50 I'd go for that. And, if I win the lottery, I would definitely buy the RX10iv. Still priced around $2200 here in Canada, IF you can find a new one. Once again a very informative and entertaining video, always worth the time to watch, thanks for sharing!

Hi! Thanks so much for the kind words. I wish I had better news about the focus of the p950 and P1000 but unfortunately, they do behave much as you described with your B700. Can be locked on to something than magically it just goes out of focus. I was so upset a few months ago. I was video recording a hawk eating his prey, with all the blood and gore and it was a great video for a couple seconds until it went out of focus. The Canon has better focus but worse stabilization so its definitely a trade off. I feel your pain about the RX10IV but I got a great deal on a used one, and if you're careful about where you get it, there are some values out there!

I think it’s hard to spend $450 on an FZ80D, when the FZ300 was just $500

After a long internal debate I bought the 950 iso 1000 and Im very happy with it. The stabilisation is very good. I can hand hold it even at max zoom. The only thing not good is the continuous focus. This is not a camera for BIF

Hi there--I know what you mean about it being difficult to take shots of the planets. I am not an expert in astrophotography so I suggest you search around KZbin and you can find a lot of info from people who have been doing this for a while. Just realize a lot of the shots that you see of the planets have been processed and "stacked" in other words multiple pictures taken and merged in special software. If you are going to try to just take a simple picture of the distant planets you may be disappointed unless you learn these techniques with outside software. Best of luck.

i had the fz2500 shame about the autofocus. i am looking forward to them making an updated model with the new autofocus system of the gh7 or g9 ii. i would also love a new sony rx mark 5 with an improved stabilization system and the removal of the shooting limit, and of course an autofocus system update based on the latest system. they can do it, they should just want to do it... it's a shame... with some small improvements of the latest technologies they would be perfect systems. btw, maybe panasonic will launch some new camcorders with a new face detect autofocus system... let's hope it's something good... not like hc vx3...

It's very unfortunate that G3 X isn't in this video
@techtoremember8096
@techtoremember8096 18 күн бұрын
As stated in the beginning of the video, the qualifications were that the camera had to have an electronic viewfinder which is definitely something most photographers prefer and demand especially for wildlife and birding. There are quite a number of very old cameras and I'm sorry I could not discuss every one of them . I wish I had the time as the video already went very much overtime!

@techtoremember8096 G3 X supports two different models of attachable viewfinders from Canon (one is even articulating). It's one of the smallest, yet 1" sensor and offers 25x optical zoom, huge touch screen etc. One of my favorite cameras in this genre. I love your videos BTW.

@@techtoremember8096 it's my pleasure. They are called EVF-DC1 and EVF-DC2. One articulates, the other OLED. Both are very good, high resolution. PS: I have all these models and more. Bridge cameras are my passion, hence me watching all your videos. If I could make a suggestion for the smaller, pocketable super zoom cameras video you will do, please try to include a rare model, A1000 from Nikon as it is the top and end of the line.
