@Renvaar19895 жыл бұрын
Did this on my Core M3 earlier today, same passive cooling with a copper plate. Followed this video, but just went with a re-paste and a big old 1.5mm pad between the heatsink and the casing. Then went for a -70 undervolt on the cpu and -55 on the gpu (highest I could get to stay stable). Then moved up the TDP from 4.5W to 6W. A modest boost, but after everything is said and done I'm still at least 10-20 degrees lower on idle than I was when at 4.5 TDP. And light gaming has got an fps boost and still stays at 70 tops even while taxing the machine. Gotta say thanks to Chris for the videos, and replying himself on the forums with any questions I had.

Unfortunately you have to do fresh install from scratch. Surprisingly it will activate it on its own. I used Samsung 512 860EVO M.2 SATA . Forget nVME. There is no slot for it. Then copy a TEST directory from original HD on to new one, and run them individually, however Win10 Pro will install them all anyway. Good Luck to you.

I did the heatsink mod on my teclast F5 today, used noctua thermal paste, added a 15x15x1mm copper shim(it was kind of a tight fit, teclast f5 is different from this model, but I could screw back the case into place), then put some gelid solution thermal pads between heatsink and case. Also added thermal pads to the ram chips when I put the copper shim. Then I did the unlock to take off power limits and it seems to be working quite well, tried GTA V and I could get 20 fps stable at 1280x720, everything low, Im not actually gonna game on this, at least not big titles like that but Im sure with more tweaks and configs it could be very playable(gtaV). It never went above 60-64 degrees after 10-15 minutes, even tho the case was very warm to the touch below, where the cpu is. The only weird thing is that for some reason my uncore clock never reaches 700mhz as I think should be the max on uhd600, it sits at 666mhz, not even sure how I could get it to 700.
@TheSunDian5 жыл бұрын
Great video. I was able to reduce temperature about 10 degree of Celsius only with 2 mm thermal pad between case and copper heat sink. You was able to reduce about 20 degree of Celsius with additional copper heat sink. But I think 1 mm thickness is to mach and can damage die. Maybe 0.5 mm would be better?

Hi, what budget laptops from China do you recommend right now? I need your expertise on this. Thanks.
@myslav18055 жыл бұрын
It would have been better if you used thermal glue between the heatsink and the shim because thermal paste wont hold the shim in place indefinitely if you carry the laptop so its not safe.
@nhansgoofyvideos75815 жыл бұрын
It's ok. Because the pressure on the shim is great enough to hold it in place.

Hey, nice mod, I think I will try this on my Teclast F5 and see how it goes. I don't get Chinese. They already do machines that have no alternatives from other major manufacturers and they do A LOT of things right yet they refuse to add a piece of metal that will improve thermals SIGNIFICANTLY. What is the logic here?
@Xfade815 жыл бұрын
To be fair, you could say the same for Apple's last year laptop. With the standard power limits the device won't overheat. For normal use noone should really disable power limits. You should praise them that you can though. Most vendors don't even allow unlocking power limits.
@akasection5 жыл бұрын
AFAIK it's because manufacturing process step count. Adding one sequence of "put piece of metal" requires additional SOP, workers, and obviously, cost. Manufacturers always tried find out reducing step count because it can cut manufacturing costs greatly. I think there are no invention about adding copper heatsink without additional step SOP, yet.

you used a 1mm thick shim, my question is have you ever used something less thicker than this? because there is a 0.1mm (thinest so far and scary as it can bend touching those resistors) version of copper shims and according to thermal conductivity the thinner/less thicker a material is the higher its rate of heat flow thus having a higher thermal conductivity.

I have the Keyboard F7 Plus for a week and I already bought it thinking about making this change. I even removed all the screws, but I had a lot of difficulty removing the back panel, it looked like it was glued or something. I ended up being afraid to push too hard and gave up, I'll leave it up to do it in the future, in case of a temperature problem. My f7 plus model appears to be slightly different from the one shown in the video.
