I believe that the capability to learning about anything relies on a couple of different factors; 1) Possessing at least average intelligence in order to be able to learn, comprehend, and retain the principles involved. 2) Certain subjects are more easily learned by the side of the brain that is better able to comprehend that particular subject matter. In other words, it's a left brain, right brain situation. Math comes easily to some, but not the ability to drive a car in a safe, effective manner. 3) There's also the fact that HOW a subject is taught or explained makes a big difference in the subject matter being learned and understood so that it can then be implemented by those of us of average intelligence. 👍

Haven't done Algebra in 53 years... I understood it then and enjoyed it knowing what you do on one side of the equation, you do on the other... I received good grades, but the memory has left me... seemed confusing some of it. If I saw it done old school style, it may ring a bell! HA! Good teacher - been watching some of your other videos just to see what I remembered... much, to my surprise at 68. Loved math! Another way to do 2 equations with 2 variables fast is by turning the equations into an addition and cancel one of the variables during the addition process. In the last example you can multiply the upper equation by 1.5 so as to turn the 2y into a 3y. Thus... 4.5x + 3y = 10.5 5x - 3y = 37 Now think about the two equations as a big addition in which you add the X values individually, the y values undividually, and the constant values individually: 4.5x + 3y = 10.5 + 5x - 3y = 37 ___________________ The Y values will be cancelled. So we add the x values and the constant values: 4.5x + 3y = 10.5 + 5x - 3y = 37 ___________________ 9.5x = 47.5 Now we solve for X: x = 47.5/9.5 X = 5 Now we solve for Y: 5(5) -3y = 37 25 - 3y = 37 -3y = 12 y = -4 I think that's a faster method, except you have to deal with divisions of decimals. The caveat is having no negative or no positive variables. Then you need to multiply one of the equations by a negative number so as to be able to cancel one of the variables.

I love how people on the internet think this is a math "trick." All it really is is reading the problem forwards and backwards. We all did this back in the 3rd grade. We did 3 + 2 and we got 5. Then, we did 5 - 2 to get us back to 2. Every problem involving the 4 operations is like this. Read an addition problem forwards, then use subtraction to go backwards. Read a multiplication problem forwards, then use division to go backwards.
