Guro Ted was one of the instructors of one of my teachers in JKD and Kali, Sifu Mark Stewart back in the mid 1990's in downtown Los Angeles Chinatown. On one particular Saturday, the students of Sifu Mark were scheduled to meet and train with Guro Ted at a location a few miles south of Chinatown at a warehouse type building (Won Kuk). As the other students and myself arrived to train, Sifu Mark was there to greet us and give us the unfortunate news that Guro Ted Lucaylucay had passed away unexpectedly, peacefully in his sleep during the night. I can remember this news was difficult to process for I was really looking forward to meeting and training with Guro Ted. I am thankful and grateful for the instruction in JKD and Kali that I received directly from Sifu Mark who shared his knowledge as well as the knowledge he received from Guro Ted. After all of these years I created a notebook and have written and recorded the philosophy, techniques, and drills that we trained and practice in class so I would not forget. Much Respect, Moses Burton☯.

I was there that day. I believe it was a Sunday actually. I was in grad school at the time. We were all sitting around waiting and Drew showed up to tell us Guro Ted passed away. Then Sifu Mark showed up in his Mitsubishi pickup. Someone asked him if it was true and Sifu Mark nodded. We still decided to practice that morning.

I trained under Guro Ted at the Musashi Martial Arts Academy in the mid 80s. He and Dave Miller were a big influence on me. Those of you who were there would remember how Ted played the conga to keep us in rhythm. I will always be grateful for the Jeet Kune Do they taught me.

I have a couple of Guro Ted's videos and I learned a lot from them. One was called Stickboxing and another on JKD wooden dummy training. He always seemed like such a big hearted guy, wish I would have had the opportunity to train with or meet him.

I'm pretty sure this is a mid 80's video. I love them.

Robert Rivera I also trained in the back of Musashi Martial Arts with Ted and David. I learned JKD from Ted and followed him to Huntington Beach. I also trained kickboxing with David for years. I have never heard about anyone else who trained there in all these years. I still train and kept up
