Basically everybody is entitled to their own opinion concerning anything. Ted Nugent understands music from a musicians standpoint. He tells like sees it. Golden Earring KICKS ASS.

The line-up of Present day Golden Earring is in fact older then the The oldest uncahianged band ZZ-Top.. They where on the scene before the Rolling Stones, opened gigs for Led Zeppelin when they came to USA for the First time, . Aerosmith, KISS opened for them when they headlined through the USA...

Good on you Ted. All compliments to GE - not dissing them at all so I don't understand resentment comments. Simply acknowledging the long term quality of a global band that has truly stood the test of time. Just enjoy the music and throw the rest out with the other rubbish.

The Golden Earring is older then The Rolling Stones.. ... they had The Beatles preventing them their first no. 1 single.. Michelle blocked it.. they opened the very first gig for Led Zeppelin in the USA, toured with Santana..broke the speakers of Led Zeppelin, wrote all measures, watts, ohms..and screwed their gear back together..and next gig Golden Earring Sounded as loud as Led Zeppelin :D

This is very curious. Nugent is 100% complimenting Golden Earring and most of the comments on here are dissing on Ted. Wtf? It sounds like the only reason you're here is to troll Ted instead of amping up on GE. Tell you what, you cats carry classic rock and roll through the late 70s and sell 30+ million records... or somewhere within 29 million, and your voice will have some meaning. Otherwise, quit trolling because you don't like someone's politics. It's only Rock and roll, guys.

I dont dig his politics or even matter of speaking..we were almost neighbors and ex-wife had car trouble ..went up to their unpretentious hous and usedphone...his wife let her in...they were probably more cordial than if the reverse happened...

Jim Kamradt but he’s so very trollable! I mean ..really. their band was around long before he was; much more sophisticated. I was curious. Ted’s generally such an ass.

I'd much rather hear him talk about music than anything else. There's not many things he says that agree with but he still gets it when it comes to music.

Ted is wrong about the bass Rinus used to record "Radar love" with. The Danelectro longhorn was indeed Rinus' main stage bass but it turned out to be a nightmare to record with because of it being impossible to properly intonate. So Rinus bought a Gibson EB-3, plugged it into a Fender twin reverb guitar amp so he could emulate that twang the Danelectro was known for and used that on "Radar love" and the rest of the "Moontan" album. He did use the Dano on pre-moontan tracks like "she flies on strange wings and you can hear the notes are always off. There actually is footage of Rinus Purchasing that Gibson bass. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4m7poVrl6iigc0

The Danelectric? I hated it! Hard on the fingers & had to pick it if you didn't want to bleed when playing long gigs. Muffeled? It sounded like a big feather pillow placed over it. But if you were good and played it like it wanted to be played it sounded good. but why? When you could play one of the easier to play basses on the market. 'Style? yeah, it was loaded. Called the Longhorn cause of its body style.
@RastaSaiyaman6 жыл бұрын
Rinus Gerritsen didn't even use the Danelectro on the recording of "Radar love" because of it being impossible to intonate properly. But he DOES (still does) use the Danelectro bass as his main live instrument and for completely the opposite reason you named. He saw John Entwistle use one when the Golden Earrings (they would later drop the S from their name) opened for the Who in 1965. What took his breath away when hearing the Longhorn wasn't a muffled sound, it was the crystal clear twang those basses have. Look up a song of theirs called "Bombay" and there's that twang he fell in love with.
@karenpato110 жыл бұрын
Wow, Nugent actually sounds like a normal person here. However, he wasn't humble enough to admit George Kooymans would mop up the floor with Nugent and his ability.
@RastaSaiyaman8 жыл бұрын
Another time Ted was humbled was when he joined Stevie Ray Vaughan on stage and was handed one of Stevie's guitars and "couldn't bend a string to save my life" Vaughan all the while was laughing at him going "what's the matter, anything troubling you?" cdn.c.photoshelter.com/img-get/I0000KQEan6ZUOoU/s/500/500/STEVIE-RAY-VAUGHAN-LIVE-1986-KS-6.jpg

@deathmetaldouglas697 жыл бұрын
I think George is pretty incredible but as a lead guitarist he can't hold a candle to Ted. I don't say this lightly as GE put out some pretty great music starting in the 60's when Ted was doing his Amboy Dukes thing. Now GE's Rinus Gerritsen vs. Ted's Rob Grange on bass would be a close one. VERY close.
