Good job guys . You brought up some interesting points . I always thought of groupthink as a sophisticated form of coercion instead of persuasion. And I am glad not to be a teen anymore , because groupthink and teen peer pressure is prime time during those years .

This is why our family uses the Super Awsome Ninja Scale. Each person tells what they think and then the scores are averaged. Of course, 3 and -3 will do what they want. It just helps the others decide what to do Super awesome ninja scale 3 - I really, really want to go and will even if no one else goes 2 - I want to do that and if the group decides not to do that I'll be sad 1 - I want to go but I don't mind if we don't do it 0 - don't have a care either way -1 - I don't want to go, but if everyone else does, I will -2 - I don't want to do that and I will go, but I won't be happy -3 - I'm not going no matter what

This was called the 'Yes Men' paradox first. The idea that a leader surrounds himself with 'Yes Men' so there's not controversy or discussion when the man or woman in charge makes a decision. Think Mr. Burns from The Simpsons

There weren't any kilometers in Texas in 1984 and temperatures are still not measured in degrees Celsius. You are speaking American English evidently to US Americans so your use of non-US Standards is a good example of the Paradox.

"evidently to US Americans"? actually, i'm happy I don't have to listen to non-metric and just think "i guess that's a lot, is it?". Most of the world has the metric system. Besides, these kids obviously did this for a school project, and they may have been thought in the metric system.

Orrrrr, crazy thought, they could be Canadian students who did a project on this and when describing the units of measurement, translated it so fellow classmates could understand.
