This was really good. I wish I could find a Methodist church that was excited about being Methodist. Here in the Deep South, most Methodists are just relieved that they aren't Baptist.

God does not "help" man to repent, He regenerates man by sovereign grace, the work of the Holy Spirit. John 3, Jesus discusses this pneumatological phenomenon with Nicodemus. Regeneration comes before faith. Monergism not synergism. Doctrines of Grace exposited by scripture alone, not by "human" tradition, epistemology, etc. The hermaneutic of "conditionality" with the subtitles of "imperativeness" and "indicativeness" tells us that even Adam in his sinless state where his "free will" was unincumbered, could not keep a simple command. Man is indeed totally helpless and dead by his freely willed acts of sin. Paul tells us in Romans 7 that he is wretched by his willful disobediance. Man is not "sick" because of sin, he is dead in his trespasses and sins: Ephesians 2:1-3. Man must be born and reborn of God, John Chapters 1 and 3; works that are entirely of God. Reference the Gospel of John and the Book of Romans. Blessings
