Honestly this show had the most realistic friendship ever, because they could’ve made Teddy and Ivy go to the same college but instead they went their separate ways, and Ivy was not in the last episode. Which shows that sometimes you have to move on, and can’t always be with your friends (but you could really see how close they were and probably still keep in touch)

I love Ivys self-confidence and the way she carries herself. She makes me think that there's nothing ugly or wrong with being overweight - something ive struggled with all my life. And i love that they never made her the butt of fat jokes because i hate fat jokes. It often makes me feel like shit when I see an overweight character only in a show to have their weight used as comedic relief and a way to make other characters appear more attractive. It's hurtful. So I'm glad Ivy's character wasn't made for that purpose.

Because you stated "Why aren't any white female obese or overweight", implying white people or actors are the standard and epitome of beauty and thus, cannot be obese - and is something reserved only to colored people. Obesity exists on a spectrum and isn't caused for the same reasons. It can be caused by medication, health issues (ovarian cysts), etc. Similarly, some people appear "overweight" when they actually aren't. People have different body shapes and thus, store weight differently than others in different places - thighs, breasts, backside, stomach, arms, etc. Likewise, being thin doesn't equate to being healthy or "right". I'm slim, yet, I am the most unhealthy person I know. I don't get any sleep, I have extreme iron deficiency, I can barely stand for long periods of time, cannot lift objects that are slightly heavy, etc. Despite that, I "look" healthy - when I'm not. Whereas other women that are heavier than me are way healthier. They can run faster and longer than not only me, but other slimmer women as well. They have better metabolism, they have a good diet, they're getting their nutrients, etc. They may "look" unhealthy, but some of them are not. This is why we need to get rid of this idea that looking a certain way equates to your health, because it doesn't. And it's extremely harmful to uphold this idea because this bias extends into the medical field.

i really needed their friendship bc as a young black afab, i was alot heavier than i am now (im literally just poor and cannot afford to eat a lot of the time) and watching this show and see disney (seemingly) not do anything to ivy for her weight gain was really helpful. i always thought ivy was so beautiful and getting to see her shine as she is with no interference really meant a lot to me as a kid!! like i never when josh peck lost a bunch of weight and i could tell he was happier so i was happy for him, but i lost a character that represented me, or rather a part of that character. unless its actually affecting your health, youre perfectly fine as you are. and no, just because someone is bigger does not automatically mean they are unhealthy. some people are naturally like that, i was a BIG ass baby. both big and tall. i came *out* that way, and my whole life was spent trying to fix the way i was *literally* born.
