Part 34: • Teddy Riley Had an Alt...
Part 1: • Teddy Riley on Growing...
--------
In this clip, Vlad started off by speaking about Bruno Mars accepting his Grammy in 2018 and naming Teddy Riley as one of the people that influenced him. Teddy explained that Bruno created a path with the New Jack Swing influence in his music, and Teddy added that he’d be open to working with Bruno in the future. From there, DJ Vlad gave Teddy his flowers by talking about the vastness of his music catalog and the way in which his sound has evolved and withstood the test of time. He even jokes that Riley has been making hit records for "100 years." From there, Riley reflects back on the music he's made before revealing that he might have something in the works with the Backstreet Boys.
Lastly, Teddy recalled working on a solo album called "Black Rock," which never saw the light of day. The awarding-winning record producer reveals that before he could complete the album, he decided to dedicate the music to a new project by Blackstreet instead. As the discussion progresses, Riley states that he will finally be releasing solo music to accompany a new book coming out soon. Moving along, he talks about living in Africa for a brief moment, his VERZUZ battle with Babyface, reuniting with Blackstreet for a show in his living room, and more.

Respect to Teddy Riley for taking care of his mother instead putting her in a nursing home. I know it's hard to handle elderly parents or grandparents but respect to those that make sure they are cared for.

Quincy Jones, Rod Teperton, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis…Teddy Riley. If you were around for the New Jack Swing era you know what it is. Guy’s run was far too short but sweet. And they’re just a small part of this man’s story. MJ once said the secret to his success was that he only worked with the best. That certainly applies to Teddy Riley.

What an exceptional human being this man is. I am so happy that his excellence is still alive and such a positive example of success in this crazy world of ours. Thank you for your gift to the world and humility Teddy Riley. You are one of my role models and I live life better because of your influence, I have never met you sir but I have met some greats in my life like George Duke and Sting. Hopefully I can make it to one of your shows so I can try and get some of my albums signed. lol I have been a fan since I was a kid not knowing it was your production but I was drawn to it as a little kid. Hearing how you live life and all of your values makes me happier that I am such an avid fan of your work. Thank you sir, you truly deserve all of your blessings. I hope you can collaborate with more of the younger artists that match your talent because that would just be so great for music. Your a living legend and we need to give you your flowers now because you have influenced so much of this modern era and we do not speak about it enough. All the best to you sir! Vlad, I don't like how you have conducted interviews in the past because of the sneaky questions format but you did well on this one but next time please don't cut off a legend like Teddy Riley. Don't drive the interview so much. Teddy has so many amazing stories and you cut in a bit much while he was speaking. Regardless, this is the best Teddy Riley interview anyone has done, Thank you.

Im so glad I grew up during the golden years of R&B with producers like Jimmy Jam Terry Lewis, La Reid & Babyface, and Teddy Riley. Today's music is so overrated and crap. I literally only choose to listen to music before 2000. R&B pop and classical.

I have always had the deepest respect for Teddy Riley, as a producer. I personally have kept my parents for almost nine years. My respect deepened even more, when he stated his mom is not going to any home, except his. I felt the same way, and have honorably taken care of them with the same unconditional love, and superb grace they gave me. Today, he’s still a wise counselor, best friend, and hero for all time.

I thought that album was gonna get slept on frfr I was one of the first people that had 24K Magic Album and I was telling people about it when it first came out and my point was right cuz it's sold a lot of Records and it won multiple Grammys and album of the year

Somebody tell TR to get back in his lane and make some modern New Jack for the pop demographic. Bruno Mars is winning Grammys with Teddys style. Cats need to stop trying to get a hit with trap type beats because truthfully, that style misses a lot of sales. Another truth is that trap stars are not very talented. “America” is not listening to that “ignit” bs. America is starving for big pop songs! So are commercials/film/tv. You may here lil baby on some urban market commercial but he ain’t no Bruno Mars! Teddy… make pop hits again! Just do what you do! Intelligent Americans ain’t touching trap. They stuck listening to oldies. We in an over saturated market like disco was. First nga break out wins. Secret? Don’t make music for “today’s youth!” That was the norm before but not no more! Youth culture has strangled itself and even young people are sick of it. The great internet disconnect got a nga lost. Pre internet thinkers need to come outta retirement.
