Around seventy years ago when they were first envisioned, dive watches were an essential tool for divers to use underwater to track their dive time and therefore the amount of breathing gas they had to work with. Today, many prominent dive watches have evolved into something else altogether, sitting squarely within the world of luxury brands and products. In this video, I'll take a look at ten of the best luxury dive watches on the market. If you think I missed any, be sure to comment down below.

My Omega Seamaster Chrono is 22 years old. Still looks and works beautifully. Back in the year 2000, it was a tough reach. But 22 years later, I’m SO HAPPY I bought it. Since then, I’ve never been interested in a more luxury brand. The Omega filled that need inside me. So, these days, I’m more of BELOW $500 options. And based on my watch box, that has a fun way to collect. From Islander, Hamilton, Tissot, Seiko, Citizen, and even Victorinox, I’ve love exploring watch brands. Even my wife has enjoyed finding larger watches that fit her tiny frame. Who knew she would end up being a dive watch fanatic? Teddy, a great video. But for me, the Seamaster checked and still checks….ALL the boxes.

I'm a big dive watch fan myself, my uncle owns a Tudor Pelagos" the version in the video" and it is an awesome piece, the diver I adore most is my 42mm Planet Ocean 2500, it just doesn't get old and I really enjoy it and if I could pick one watch right now money being a non factor I'd buy a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms with no hesitation, it's such a stunner, great list of Diver's Teddy.

Nice list. I've owned the Tudor BB and Omega Seamaster. They were both very nice watches. Currently I have the Glashutte Original SeaQ Panarama Date. Its a fantastic piece. Over six months it is the most accurate watch I've ever owned (+.33 sec. per day). The lume is also fantastic. It has a 100 hour power reserve, beautiful movement, nice double domed crystal, the bezel is precise and holds strong and the large date is great for my old eyes. Its not inexpensive but I believe, worth the price.

The highlight of the video for me was definitely the Aquatimer, whenever I hear IWC I always think 5 figure prices (largely inaccessible for me) but my eyes nearly popped out when I saw the price. The ETA base obviously helps drop the price but I love the case design and I must say, that is one hell of a watch. Time to start saving :')

I have a couple of the watches you mentioned, but for me the Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk 4990 is the watch I wear most often. The white dial, the applied numerals, with the power reserve, and especially the hands, 300 meter water resistant, it's just a great watch, from a maker frequently overlooked.

@@naturalLin It's heavy, but that's not a problem for me; I like feeling the heft on my wrist. As for bulk, I don't think it's too bulky. It's definitely no dress watch, but the curves of the case make it sit well on the wrist. If you're interested, I'd say visit your local AD and try it on. My wrists are pretty small at around 6.75" and I think it fits great despite being a 43 mm watch.

I'm pleasantly surprised that a Black Bay that WASN'T the 58 was mentioned! One of the advantages of the BB line is, as Teddy mentioned, the variety of sizes, materials, and features available. But a minor quibble; the "Black Bay 41" mentioned is actually the larger, bezel-less model. I think Teddy meant the OG "Black Bay Heritage" model.

Teddy I’m in love with the Omega Seamaster 300 but I’ve been viewing and reading a lot about the Anti-Reflective coating. For a sports watch many people have experience from only months of purchase, there are scratches already in the crystal without them hitting anything. Is this the case that it’s weak and a big flaw that needs to be removed and paid for the polish?

A list that I cannot argue with Teddy, great choices. I'll give you my personal top four of the ten in no particular order. - Tudor Pelagos, a tool watch designed as a tool watch and very comfortable to wear, super readable and arguably a modern classic. The fact it has not changed could be seen that there isn't much wrong with it as a 500M tool diver. A thinner version would be welcome but I'm not sure there would be much room to maneuver of they wanted to keep the 500M and auto escape valve. - Omega 300M, fantastic value for the money for a luxury brand, skeleton broadsword hands, ceramic wave dial, symmetry with the date at six, terrific case design and an elegant clasp that has the push button micro adjustment. My personal preference would be the white dial. - Rolex Submariner, preferably without the date. I don't think I need to justify this one. It's a modern incarnation of a classic. - Tudor Blackbay 58, Like the Omega 300M and Submariner it's a watch for all occasions.

Same, and I'd consider the Carl F. Bucherer Patravi Scubatec too. The Rado loses nothing compared to those other mass-market (even though Rado is more popular in some markets, in the USA and Europe I believe as a dive watch and to the general public Rado is more original of a choice) unoriginal choices and adds unique elements and USPs to go well ahead of them IMO. Far better value too. I mean compare Rado's ceramic monobloc case with transparent front and back to those ordinary cookie-cutter things! The Carl F. Bucherer is so much more exclusive, so refined and has arguably higher quality (well, measurably too since it's a certified chronometer) and better features (helium valve etc.) than those other super-boring choices and the price for all that is a steal.

This is a nice list of dive watches indeed. If you talk about Germany and Glashütte, don't forget to look at the Nomos Ahoi Atlantik with or without date or the newer neomatik version of it. I own the Nomos Ahoi Atlantik with date and although the official depth guarantee is »only« 200 meters or 20 ATM, internal tests proved that the watch can stand way more than that. Every real diver knows that 40 to 60 meters is the range you are diving at unless you are a professional diver. The watch is just gorgeous to look at and the quality of the case and clockwork is top notch. As the back is with sapphire glas as well, you can watch how it works. Diameter is 40 mm - for me the right size, because anything larger than 41 mm is too big for my wrist. Price is at 3.600 Euros, but luckily I got mine second hand for less. Definitely a watch you can and should dive with.

Great video as always. But no love for the Planet Ocean? More of an actual dive watch with higher depth rating than the other Omegas on your list.

Great review here again, Teddy and great list! I have to say that the JLC Polaris Mariner Memovox has to win the "cool" award. I'd love to have one of those! Imagine the conversation you can start with a mechanical alarm!! and the dial is amazing. My top list: - JLC Polaris Memovox - a dream watch and super cool. I'd use the alarm a ton to time my BBQ turns and also eggs in the morning. Pretty sure I'd wear it all the time. - Tudor BB58 - hard to beat!! - Breitling Superocean - that thing really is gorgeous and the black dial is amazing! This gives a hard challange to my always loved Omega Seamaster and I bet would be more "discountable" at the dealers than some competitors. - Seamaster 300 - probably another watch that can go from sea to tux and I just love the Daniel Craig era bond watches and that just reminds me of the great exploding one in Spectre. Great job again, Teddy!

From a pure diving perspective I think the Pelagos tops this list due to its legibility, robustness and size. It’s the only luxury diver I actually like to dive with.

Can you do a video comparing a Black Bay with the Baltic Aquascaphe? What makes the Tudor cost 5 to 6 times as much?

Great video as always but I think Grand Seiko makes some awesome luxury dive watches (that you can actually dive in) and the Seiko LX range contains luxury watches with proper diving credentials, not to mention great movements

Nice selection... but as mentioned below, how do you leave Panerai off of a luxury DIVE watch selection list? Other than Doxa (not a luxury brand per'say) I can't think of another Watch brand associated w/Military and Diving. But again... just my opinion :)

Oris is one of the most underrated markers out there, I love my Planet Ocean and Sea Dweller, but I've got a TT1 Diver that I've been wearing for 15 years, battered and still keeps great time despite never being serviced! I paid about £700 at the time, that screams value 👌

You definitely called the case size options with the Tudor Pelagos in this video. Personally, I would’ve loved to pick a Tudor Pelagos in either size because it’s more of a tool watch, but what breaks it for me is the titanium. That’s a selling point for most, but if I’m wearing a tool watch I want to feel it on my wrist, I can’t feel the Pelagos on my wrist which if it falls off or is stolen, and I can’t feel it gone, what’s the point of the tool watch now. Just my opinion. I love it outside of that one aspect.
