Bravo to Timex for providing entry-level automatic watches to the buying public at superb price points. Thank you, Teddy.

The reason why Timex chose the Miyota movement is the fact it makes a lot of noise. Timex's noisy quartz movements have become part of the brand DNA!

For me and I imagine our generation, we were more about the Timex Ironman or Expedition and not so much Casio or GShocks so I personally have a soft spot for Timex and its great to see them appealing to our generation again.

Agreed. Growing up, pre-teens well into adulthood, the Timex Ironman was my watch. It's tough to beat.👍🏽✌🏽
@rickfanning56472 жыл бұрын
Yep. I got into running before GPS was a thing. The Ironman was the watch to have when all you could do was memorize where the miles were and hit a button on your watch as you passed the yellow fire hydrant or a certain side street. I don't run as much any more, but I still prefer the Ironman/Expedition to the G-Shock. (Yes, I said it.)

In a short time Timex will level their improvements beyond mass market to appeal to a higher end customer looking for a more expensive timepiece from them. The Waterbury, Marlin, Weekender,and Expedition series should be their tariff of higher quality watches that’ll put Timex in a higher respectable plateau among its high quality peers
@bigboiganiga83562 жыл бұрын
You trippin? Timex trying to highwater themselves with their offerings. The hit Marlin is simply equiped with chinese no name movement and mineral crystal and the auto their Navis is from Miyota 8000, cant handwind or hack. Timex did try to cache in higher better offerings without fully commit on creating the best 300 dollars watches with specs!

I know this has been said before but timex truly has been getting it right the last few years. I think the only way they could up the game now is a solar quartz watch with a sweep similar to a mechanical watch. That'd would really do it for me I think.
@rickfanning56472 жыл бұрын
To me, the proportions seem off. Given the amount of dial area, the numnbers are too small and the date window seems tiny. I like a clean dial, but this seems off. Maybe its just me.

Love it! But I do wish they used a Swiss (or even an NH35, and maybe a 9015) hacking and handwinding movement and sapphire crystal (and I would pay the difference)!

First of all, I wish you undeneably a happy new year Teddy, and once more thank you for this new thread. This piece is very interesting in fact, I would consider it as my ideal everyday-watch, wearable in a diversity of occasions. I like its design, sizes, shape, colour of dial, leather strap... but unfortunately the price that is asked for a watch like this considering this kind of Miyota movement isn't really good, a bit high I do personally consider. All the major brands got competitive model at this segment that cost a quarter less than this price offered by Timex. The first example wich comes to ones mind is Orient with its Bambino line, the Maestro an Symphony among some others at a very competitive prices wich doesn't exceed the 200$ mainly and being all of them equipped with in house mo ements as well. Despite all this consideration I want to say that this watch is an ideal everyday-watch even for the most experts. Saludos!!!

Great video as always. Would love to try out a Timex Giorgio Galli 38mm. Just realised you’ve never done a video on the Omega Seamaster 300m Diver. Have my eye on the white dial version but have been patiently waiting for your take on it. Thanks

So this is odd. For some reason, I thought the Miyota 8215 did not allow hacking, yet my Classic Automatic does indeed allow hacking. I wonder if there were new updates to the Miyota 8215.

Teddy, as much as I respect your watch opinions, I might have to disagree here. I am a Timex fan and was excited when the Marlin automatic was released so I purchased it. I was so impressed with this watch that I also went for the Waterbury Automatic and I have to say, in my experience, the Marlin seems to be a much nicer watch. You know the internals better than I but to me, the Marlin has a more quality feel, seems to keep time better and clearly has a nicer strap (I even plan to keep the strap on it, which says a lot for a Timex supplied strap). The Waterbury is nice to look at but it is loud and just feels cheaper to me. My experience causes me to wonder since I bought the Marlin from Timex directly, paying the advertised price, and the Waterbury from ebay for less then 1/2 the advertised price. I did get the Timex packaging with the Waterbury but due to the quality, I wonder if I got some kind of Waterbury knock off.

I heard it is a super loud movement that reminds wearer how cheaply made this type of watches is. A glass back made the uglyness of the movement exposed under the sun. Timex is doing a dumb job on the Waterbury automatic line.
