YALL, I don’t know how I missed this, but I completely forgot to mention “616 in LA” by Kendrick, which is hands down one of the most pivotal tracks in this entire beef. It was such a sleeper, and I have no excuse for leaving it out of the video, so I had to add my thoughts here. When 616 in LA dropped, it was right after Euphoria, and we were all waiting on Drake’s Family Matters. At that point, it was Drake’s turn to respond. But Kendrick used 616 in LA to send a very clear warning. Kendrick knew what Drake was about to do.. accuse him of being an abuser and spread lies and you can hear that tension all over the song. Kendrick’s tone is so conflicted as hell. on one hand, he claims to be a peaceful man; on the other, he’s ready for all-out war. It was like he was a knight talking to himself before heading out to the battlefield. He knew there was going to be a lot of blood. The details Kendrick drops are so intense. The song starts with that weird sounding machine which i still don’t know what it means. He hints that there is a mole in Drake’s camp feeding Kendrick information. That line alone probably made Drake question his entire team. And Kendricks flow & lyrics was truly Unreal. Kendrick was giving us next level lyricism, laying down clues in a way that makes you keep coming back to the song, catching something new every time. At first, I didn’t know how I felt about it. On the first listen, I was like, Okay, this is solid. But by the second or third listen, I realized this track was a masterpiece-lyrically, musically, everything. And the beat. That production was just built different. Of course, we know how this all played out. Drake dropped Family Matters, completely ignoring Kendrick’s warning. too confident and just pompous that Kendrick didn’t have dirt on him. And then Kendrick hit him with Meet the Grahams the same night and the next day dropped Not Like Us, which as we all know completely shook the world. and ended Drake’s run which has flipped everything in hip-hop. Anyway, I didn’t mean to go on a whole rant, but I couldn’t let this slide without giving 616 in LA its flowers 💐 . It’s one of those tracks that feels even more powerful in hindsight. Let me know what y’all thought about it in the comments! Appreciate yall!

I love this. Thank you ❤. I think the sound in the beginning is the football machine from the superbowl announcement. The LA in the title might not even be LA, it might be Louisiana. I think it's a sign that it was game over, because Kendrick already knew he had the superbowl, and he was also going to win this battle.

You not alone 6:16 is the most underrated and forgotten diss track of the beef. Got overshadowed by the first, the scariest, and the hit. I'm the same way more or less. I was into 90s hip-hop to some extent, mostly East coast. I liked KDot's two Black Panther tracks a lot (Marvel fan way more before the culture). The beef led me to research. The research showed that Kendrick was in the process of slaying a fucking vampire. The things people said Drake "did for" the industry are misinterpreted as good; the man has been absorbing talent for decades, keeping them as ghostwriters in a sweatshop, preventing their success in the name of his success. I've said this a dozen times: he could have been the new Berry Gordy, OVO could've been the new Motown for Hip Hop. Instead, he sucked the marrow from the artists he starstruck and enslaved them with contracts. The reason why HE was successful and many others weren't was because THAT WAS HIS INTENT. Drake did NOT elevate the art, he DEPLETED it!

There are words, and there are music, that are powerful enough to create change. Powerful enough to manifest what they call for. Kendrick changed Drakes life. Drake will never get back to the apex he was at, not anymore. And as someone who was telling ppl in 2011 that this kid from Compton was my new favorite rapper, and that fact hasn’t changed since, I am not surprised at all by what happened. Lol at the risk of some serious hindsight glazing, Kendrick might have waited to drop as long as he did so that there would be this documented trail of them literally begging for it. So when he gave it to them he wasn't "doing too much"

I was a pop girl through and through, when I started dating my high school crush in college in 2017, and he asked me to date him to Kendrick's LOVE, which was very fitting to the situation bc that boy was RUNNING for me for 2 years lol Anyway, he ended up r@ping me and I couldn't listen to Kendrick, until Euphoria. I'm healed and restored and blessed.

Drake took longer to drop than Kendrick did. That's the problem real hip hop battle rappers is about lyricism not about bops. He had to dumb it down two Drake's level. It was more men than women shaking their ass doing cartwheels and backflips. Then when Kendrick destroyed him in 5 days everyone was in the Uproar now he has a petition to sue

Before this beef I was a fan of Kendrick n simply thought Drake was now rapping to keep up with the kids n I wasn’t interested any longer. I went to a Kendrick show a few years ago cause somebody cancelled n I was so amazed by his stage performance he put on a show! This beef just made me a REAL KENDRICK FAN n he simply said all the things I couldn’t put into words about why I don’t ask Alexa to play Drake anymore! He literally said in Euphoria most of the shit I was feeling

I don't like autotune artist but I appreciate artist like Wayne and Chris Brown bc they can perform w/o autotune and backtrack but their music not for me, I don't like listen to drugs, gun, sex, woman and money bc I don't feel that bc that not my life😂, Drake depending to much on autotune make his music sound the same for me most of the time, some new artist sounds exactly like him, future and Wayne 😂

Honestly, with how much questionable Drake verses are out there. A theory. 1. If he does have a ghostwriter, that has been lazily telling on Drake all this time. And Drake can’t get subtext. Which would go with how he had a weird ass reaction to the Control verse. (Realistically maybe he got a bit of the ‘tism cause they tend to take things very literally.) 2. The meek mill/drake beef was just all for money, cause a few major restaurants used it for their advertising. Would maybe also give him an accepted out when it comes to the x stuff or the cupcake stuff. “Well come on, everyone knows I don’t write my own shit, how could I have said anything about sending shooters.”

I thought push-ups was a trash diss. Short jokes and the other disses just seemed like middle school taunts and not even clever ones. It did have a catchy beat but it was ultimately forgettable. And then Euphoria. Gorgeous song. Lyrics with so many layers of meaning that even relisten reveals something else. It’s a Drake diss but it’s also art that can stand on its own. And the rap beef truly did change everything. I am a 40 year old suburban white woman. But Kendrick’s diss tracks really inspired me to work on my own art again, to self-evaluate and make sure I actually believe in what I stand for, to strive for authenticity, he made me inspect the levels of misanthropy that had seeped into my life, and brought a renewed belief in the need of community and connection and how profound of a force they can be on every personal and societal level. He reminded me of why I went to art school all those years ago - the fundamental power of storytelling and how much, we, as human beings, rely on storytelling to make sense of the world around us. As entertainment. As shared culture. As new experiences. To unite us. To make us feel. To capture a moment in time that can be passed down. I’ve loved KDot’s music for many years but this set of songs reignited a passion in me that had been snuffed out by the bs of day to day life. I was too focused on myself and health problems. His songs changed everything. Drake inspired people to….make memes? Self-sabotage instead of facing things head on? See how unattractive a near 40 year old throwing tantrums is? Realize that selling your soul for any amount of money, even $400 mil just is not worth it. He also reminded people (accidentally) of the importance of reading comprehension due to how badly he misunderstood Mother I Sober and encouraged everyone to relisten to Mr. Morale - which NGL I needed because I was not in the right headspace to give it its full due when it came out. So I guess Drake did accomplish things during the beef but they were mostly things that benefit Kendrick. Also the 10 Things I Hate About You Clip is so telling. Drake be watching teen rom coms and missed the fact that Kendrick is channeling DMX to hate him.

Life before Euphoria still the same. Drake did all the stuff on Pusha T (bringing up a woman, distracted dissing, and sniping a song cuz Story of Adidon aint officially on YT) but Scorpion and Spotify swept the L under the rug. Euphoria is my fave diss of the beef and Kendrick was like "Hol up, u lost ur last beef. And I'm not worse than Push. You don't want this smoke." Drake ain't even make up for it in albums. They were subpar quality and didn't even beat competing drops, like Donda vs CLB. Were any of Drake's albums after the Pusha T beef better than Daytona, MMATBS, or GNX? But people forget (or cope), not just about Drake but on Kendrick's disgustingly great consistency, how long he's been around, and how much he isn't impatient or attention-seeking like he said in Family Ties. Kendrick can leave a lot of answers to people's questions/thoughts before they ask about a topic with how introspective a lot of his works are. And that's why a lot of Drake's disses don't work since Kendrick left his closet open for everyone to peer into.

Am a Dot stan. Everybody was a Drake fan for a while, he was the neutral who delivered. I got off Drake after Views, I thought Views was just an experiment but it turned to be his mainstay. I like Scorpion I thought it was a return to form but alas... Since Scorpion Drake has sounded really uninspired and plain. I never cared for him at all after Scorpion. This beef brought him back in my radar.....against Dot!!! I knew where it was going😅 I felt bad for his huge fandom who didnt know what was coming. Euphoria felt like a Broadway musical or play, he painted a picture of an egotistical, delusional, pathetic imposter given the hard truth that he is a phony. As much money he has, he’s still broken. As much power he has, he’s still weak. As much as he wins, he’s still a loser. Euphoria is right there with ether as the greatest battle rap of all time

All that smack they was talking! But they’d been lulled to sleep by all the crap Drake had been selling. IMO Drake had a spell on people. 10 years ago, he made good songs, never life changing songs, but good songs. His last good album was scorpion. But his last 2 or 3 albums weren’t good but he always did numbers because of reputation IMO.
