I don't know why, but I love Paul's character. He is very flawed, in every possible aspect jajajaja, but he constantly strives to redeem himself by trying to be a good father or doing the right thing. Sometimes, though, he does not know what is the right thing to do, like in this chapter jajaja. Maybe that is the reason why I like this anime... it just feels like real, bad people looking for redemption. In any case, that is how the main character starts his new life.

If you consider Rudeus' past and background, you can kind of understand why he could make that mistake. Also, Sylphie uses the masculine pronoun (boku) when referring to herself. While this is a Japanese language thing, it's probably the same in the Human language too since they made a distinction of her using "boku" instead of "watashi" (the more neutral version). Paul is flawed like everyone but he's a great character. It's just easy to see his bad sides and ignore the good ones, especially when you know so little about him thus far.

With all the hate towards Rudy, and the little to none hatred towards Paul that I saw, it seems like people ignore his bad sides more than his good. Paul did something as a child that Rudy has never done even as an adult or when reborn with his adult mind intact, yet people still hate Rudy more than Paul.

Main character is meant to be hated on. Author confirmed it in light novels. Though Anime spend only 1 episode but kind of failed to establish that. But Rudeus is meant to be a bad character and it's his journey to become likable by us.

Yeah, people who dropped it or say it's "cringe" and "creepy" did obviously not understand what the author is trying to portray. I can't blame them though. Usually those kind of people need to be force fed with that information, otherwise they wouldn't understand the story. Mushoku Tensei doesn't hold you by the hand like other shows do. People seriously need to stop saying it's "cringe". They are really doing a huge disservice to the series by picking one aspect they don't like (because they simply don't understand it) and say that MT is bad and for pedophiles. It's also sending a message to other mangaka who might not try something similar to mushoku tensei because they fear the backlash from the west.

This show has god-tier levels of character development in the second half of the season. Hope ya stick with it! And If you like it so far i'd also recommend Re:Zero for another Isekai which IMO, is on par with this show as one of the best in the genre. Amazingly well-written characters & the writing is top notch!

Rudeus acts like a child but talks like an adult and is more intelligent than Paul in many ways, so Paul easily loses track of the fact that Rudy is still a child sometimes. Hence, giving teenage advice and later questioning himself.

Glad to see you're sticking with Mushoku Tensei despite the questionable bits. It is a really good show. I'd also recommend checking out The Faraway Paladin, as a counterpart to MT. The author of FP credited MT as an inspiration, and there are a lot of similarities in the DNA and core concepts, but they put their own stamp on the story. The anime was produced by Children's Playground, and it's their first fully independent production (as opposed to assist on other projects such as Gleipnir), so don't expect it to be as gorgeous visually as MT, but I still really enjoyed the series, and the LNs are among the best-written LNs I've read.

Also, check out So I'm A Spider, So What. That series definitely has a unique spin on the isekai genre, and Aoi Yuuki's performance as Kumoko is a joy to watch. But it also weaves a very tangled web (pun intended), and excels at making the readers and viewers guess and second-guess their theories and expectations. The author, Okina Baba, is a genius at giving (and hiding) just enough information to keep you wondering, and to mislead you. Spider and Paladin are also very philosophical works that poke and prod at western philosophical ideas such as existentialism, Platonic forms, post-modernism, Nurture vs Nature, and I think the two series are also complementary to each other, despite being very different in tone and execution. And of course, both of them owe a debt to Mushoku Tensei for re-popularizing the isekai genre and cementing its conventions (conventions that Spider and Paladin go on to subvert and expand). Spider would definitely be a fun one to watch teddy react to, as it's as much a thrill ride as a philosophical treatise, and the anime, while not perfect, has a lot of strong points (especially the character animation on Kumoko, hats off to the animators for making a spider emote and be so cute).

With great anime you can rewatch them and pick up on things that you didn't before. In the first episode he was scared to even go outside the house. He asked Roxy do we have to do out side. When she was teaching him about the first spell he was looking around all scared and fidgeting. He had not been outside of even his room in 20 years. That does something to a person. Also some kids are just different. I remember being in PreK and having a crush on this girl because she was nice to me. My older brother giving me advise on how to ask her out. He was 4 years older than me.

It's not a good anime if "you look past that", it's a good anime BECAUSE of that. If Rudeus wasn't a creepy, broken, pervert, then the story would have no point. A healthy character doesn't need a second chance at life. Someone who wasn't broken by their old life has nothing to gain from redoing growing up. It's because we know that Rudeus is who he is that every time he does something that goes against that we're happy to see his growth, it's why we cheer him on. Because while he might not be a good person, he WANTS to be better.

I think this is the first time in the show it was a legitimate mistake. And you could truly tell just how horrible Rudy felt afterwards. But even in that situation, consider the growth there. "Oh I just did that to my friend, wow, I feel like crap and need to apologize, that wasn't right", from the guy who skipped his parent's funeral to enjoy "sexy times" watching porn. He really is growing as a character. (-8 to a -7, but hey, growth is growth, and it's only right to acknowledge it). Also, yes, Paul is worse then Rudy. You'll find out.

If there were ever a real recorded instance of someone dying and being reborn in a completely different world with their memories intact, we could consider holding that person in a completely different world to the standards of modern day America, but... hey, we can't. 0:30 - you aren't supposed to look past that though, the anime is not saying that what Rudeus does it right, it's criticizing the main character even if it might not always look like it. day 3 of telling you about isekai animes oh yeah If you are starting isekai take my advice Also react to Konosuba Overlord The saga of Tanya the Evil Re Zero these 4 are isekai and together they have a joined show even very cartoonish (nothing like MCU ros omething its just for fun) called Isekai Quartet. that should tell you how famous they are. React to all 4 of them as well they are really good anime. Overlord is soon to get a new season4 as well so it might be perfect timing.

Overlord gets better within season1 episode 8 and final battle in ep12&13 are insane Start of S2 is actually boring for some people because it focuses on some other people but it picks up very well from after that and till end of season 3 everything is just pure badass MC energy. I think that if you want to have a good experience with this kind of anime, you should try not to judge characters' morals based on your own morals. The main character is clearly a recluse and traumatized by what happened in his previous life, as well as being from a different culture. Mix in the fact that most things that can be thought wrong or shameful are said only in his mind. Imagine if all people had access to all your thoughts what would they think of you? Another thing is that they live in a kind of medieval world. On Game of Thrones I saw a lot of that too, people watching judging the morals and actions of characters from a medieval type era through current morals and customs. It's a mistake in my opinion that breaks the experience of watching this type of show. I liked your channel and I'm enjoying your videos, keep up the good work.
