I saw this in a Haikyuu group and it seemed nice to know : I like that it's the cats( or in this case cat because kuro's the only nekoma player here )and the owls (akaashi and bokuto )[two nocturnal animals] that gravitate towards tsukki ( the moon ). A really nice detail to add by Furudate sensei.

The third person with kuroo and Bokuto is Akaashi, Bokuto's setter on Fukurodani. He's awesome and you'll see more of him in future episodes.

The things Yamagutchi said weren't just for Tsukki's sake. Tsukki is naturally talented, he already had the height, so he naturally thrived in volleyball even without "trying hard", especially at a young age before most of the kids hit their growth spurt. Yamagutchi is the polar opposite, he sucks at sports in general, and even in volleyball, he is kind of a bench warmer and his only chance to participate in the game is to try real hard, even if it is just for the few times where he gets to serve. Saying that all the effort amounts to nothing, because you can't be the best in the world, is a giant middle finger imo. Ofc, Tsukki has his reasons and didn't mean to invalidate Yamagutchi's struggling to justify his spot on the team, but still... Imo Yamagutchi had every right to get pissed at him.

it's actually one of my favorite moments of the episode. At the end of the episode, Tsukishima was actually glaring at Hinata, as if to tell him to watch his back because he's no longer going to be content staying the background and letting Hinata take all all the glory. Yamaguchi noticed this and that's why he smiles, knowing that Tsukki finally has some motivation to do and be better and Yamaguchi helped him get there. Yachi also noticed which prompted her to comment on the sun vs moon metaphor again. Cut to the moon being out during the day, representing Tsukki beginning to truly become a rival for Hinata, ready and able to take his spot in the spotlight, instead of just being there when Hinata can't. Tsukki is the CEO of character develop!.

Being a powerhouse school means so many players will be there so unless you are unique or has superior talents, they arent gonna make it to the regulars or even benchwarmers. It is sad to see tsukki being broken down by his own brother who in turned was broken down by his own lies because he didnt want his younger brother to stop being amazed by him

This is probably up there for my fav episodes. I have fave moments and like favourites "episodes" as in matches that span an episode. But this episode is just so perfect. Tsukki breaking out of his shell. Bokuto, kuroo, the whole general vibe of a group of kids playing their fav game. Nothing malicious, just wholesome

the third guy is akashi (dont know if you write it like that) he is a second year of fukurodani and the setter. he is basically bokutos partner who is very calm and smart. being a second year main setter in a team (which is regulary placed high at nationals) with one of the 5 best aces in the country means he is very skilled.

This episode adds so many layers to Tsukki character, it's what made him my favorite character from Karasuno. The quiet guy is Akaashi, he is Fukurodani's setter and basically the voice of reason between Bokuto's crazy antics.

The feeling of betrayal and lies between Tsukki and his brother is one thing, but I can also imagine the humiliation he felt. He kept bragging about his awesome brother all that time to his friends and then took them to see the match and found out in that situation...at that age what others think about you feels important and kids can be really cruel, so imagine it stung.

Bokuto and Kuroo are such goofballs when they are together but they are awesome senpais. I'm not sure if we know whether Akiteru (Tsukki's brother) was a regular in the previous years when the Little Giant wasn't as good as in his second year. Akiteru is a year older than Little Giant, so it's possible he was playing at least during part of his second year but didn't want Tsukki to come because he wasn't the ace. Or he might have been a benchwarmer for some time. Either way, it's a heartbreaking story. He wanted to be an inspiration for his little brother and instead turned into a cautionary tale for him.

Hii, I know I'm late but I am watching all of your Haikyuu reactions and I'm loving it🧡🖤! I rarely comment but I want you to know that Tsukki's older brother became part of the Volleyball team, the jacket is the proof, since it is only given to those who join the team and Tanaka's sister also said that there is a tall guy at the team named Tsukkishima too. The sad part is that Tsukki's older brother wasn't pick even to be at the bench (I just read it at facts about Haikyuu, so I apologize for being too much)😅

In these kind of sports clubs they don't really limit you on how many people can join the team, but the official matches do limit you on how many players you can bring. Tsukishima's older brother just wasn't good enough to make that cut to get onto the bench. You can see he still has the black volleyball club jacket though.

Tsukki's brother did make the team, but the roster was so deep he wasn't even able to be on the bench. That's how good Karasuno was the last time they went to Nationals, where a tall former middle school ace and someone with good receives (as we see when he sends the ball into the basketball hoop) isn't even an alternate.

Aw, you cut out that important line from Hinata. "He has everything I don't." The entire reason why the sun-moon analogy works for their dynamic. Tsukishima is everything Hinata is not and they both play the same position, having to compliment each other. Hinata is an instinctual player who thrives on the energy of the game and keeps moving always. Tsukishima is the centered, cerebral player who can see and react to the things in the game that Hinata misses. In other words, Hinata is like the blazing sunlight and Tsukishima is the calm moonlight.
