so when feeling unnecessarily stressed, think: theres no real danger. this will not be the death of me. but when lacking urgency or demotivated, think: how badly will it go if i dont get this done. dispel stress or use stress to your advantage. thanks for the insight ted ed!

Rationalizing in high stress situation doesn't always work.
@dutchvanl3 күн бұрын
My favorite way of looking at the first came from a veteran. "No one's shot at me today, so it's a pretty good day." To @turtle360's point, it doesn't always work, but you can use it to remind yourself that while it may FEEL like you're in mortal danger, this is an overreaction from your brain and you can start using regulation to calm yourself down.
@nicreven3 күн бұрын
@@turtle360 Not really, no, you just end up overthinking What DOES help is a little mantra I really like which is just "When it's time to panic - DON'T PANIC" It's not about making yourself believe things are okay It's all about NOT. THINKING.

In my experience, yoga works tremendously for depression and anxiety as well as routine stress. Not only does the stretching releases the tightness of the body and can be an excellent exercise overall but paired with mindful breathing, it soothes the mind and body in ways that are truly remarkable. Indulging in our favourite hobbies can be quite calming and relaxing as well.

I was thinking about how to get better and working before deadline because I thought I’d go to the last minute because I would procrastinate to avoid stress. But also the stress is a result of the procrastination which brings the deadline closer which leads to more stress and it’s a bad cycle. I think the solution is to be motivated without too much stress because otherwise it can trigger the procrastination. So for those stressful procrastinators like me, I think let’s try sticking to a schedule and have the first 20 secs of a task layed out beforehand. That doesn’t make us wonder what to do and procrastinate in dread of what me might have to do. Istead we know what to start of and we don’t see the big daunting project but a place to continue. And hopefully by scheduling this, we can get work done In advance and stop sweating bullets as much. God bless

Adrenaline (epinephrine) is not part of the HPA axis. It’s part of the sympathetic nervous system; no pituitary involvement. HPA axis stimulates the adrenal cortex, sympathetic NS stimulates the adrenal medulla. Epinephrine is also much shorter acting (half-life 3-5 min.) than cortisol.

There are some inaccuracies with this video. At one point it seems as if adrenaline (epinephrine) and cortisol are being emitted/released from the pituitary. They are released only by the adrenal gland through direct nervous stimulation.

Stress often feels like an enemy, but reframing it as a tool can be transformative. I love how your video emphasizes the balance - harnessing stress to motivate and learn, while knowing when to pause and recalibrate. Small practices like mindful breathing or connecting with friends can turn stress into strength. What’s your go-to strategy for staying grounded when stress kicks in?
