I’m genuinely just curious to know if someone here in the comments that identifies as they/them can explain if you’re using pronouns that in at least our modern times are used to identify a plural, does this mean you feel you have a duel personality or because you feel that the using IT is demeaning?
@Turtleycute2 ай бұрын
I use he/they pronouns. They/ them gets used as single pronouns all of the time. “My friend likes baseball. They are good at it.” or “Someone lost their wallet yesterday. I hope they found it.” It has nothing to do with duel identities as they/them is acceptable as a single pronoun. It just comes to the fact that it’s gender neutral so some people feel more comfortable using those pronouns than he or she. Also, some people do prefer to use It as a pronoun. It just depends on the person (but a lot of transphobic people do use It as an insult so 🤷🏻♂️). Hope this helps ❤️. If you need more info plz ask or google it 😊.

Good Lord. A lot of misunderstanding of linguistics and a reductive view of history. They is from the Old Norse, but it has always been a plural word. And Middle English was used in the 1300s, not Old English. It's like someone here slept through half a lecture and adapted what they did hear to fit their worldview. Just say language changes and usage and definitions of words change. Don't lie to try to "prove" the historicity of a usage that's only been occurring for the past few decades.
