I SO agree. To understand where we are, we need to look at the psychohistory and this does exactly that! SO powerful!

Agreed. This is the Christian I longed for growing up in a southern Baptist church and never found. Perhaps I'd have never left the faith.

I was thinking the same connection about trump and his mom's family getting kicked out of the highlands , forced to live in the the isle of lewis. Interesting that she married a real estate developer and her son does the same. Sort of a generational getting your land back thing. Great poem too.

My heart just breaks listening to this talk. I'm touched and filled with appreciation for his framing of the history brought forward and the context.

This talk is of such deep insight about colonialism/capitalism and it’s underlying fears that leads to dualism and estrangement between ego, others and nature. Nothing could be more far away from the gospel than building walls internally and externally! I am gonna repost this before the next US election. Thank you Alastair for this prophetic speech!

Flagged Ted talks have the best content

Despite this talk being flagged by TED, what this man says is wisdom that needs to find its way to a wide audience. Calvin’s theology of damnation is a pernicious heresy from which Protestantism needs to distance itself to be at all credible. Only universal salvation is Biblical, but those who are most vocal in their condemnation of universal salvation are the lovers of walls.

Yes. he is is wise and yet he only sees one side. There are more sides to the issue of the wall and the Paris climate accord than can be captured in a 20 minute talk and people have been spending years debating it. I am by no means a solid Trump supporter and do not back much of what he stands for but at this point in time, I would say that America needs the wall with Mexico. It has nothing to do with prejudice. The Paris climate accord was totally unfair and unreasonably harder on America than it was on China, India and other countries that are notably far worse polluters. They were not called to task. Why should America bear the brunt. That is Trumps message.

Thanks for drawing attention to this, Peter. As you know, I'm a stickler for the scientific approach but within a spiritual wider framing, and I've just issued a response.
