While it is important to make one's space as inclusive, one has the responsibility preserve the integrity of it. Filipino journalist Karen Davila shares her experience of keeping her composure in the face of social media bashing to prevent unnecessary intrusions into her space.
Karen Davila has been one of the greatest prides and driving forces of the Philippine journalism industry in recent years. From anchoring in prominent newscast programs like Bandila, to hosting the eponymous interview program "Headstart with Karen Davila," to choosing to take the role of a national whistleblower in programs like "XXX: Exklusibong, Explosibong, Exposé," "Y Speak," and "Barangay Dos", Karen is not only a cultural icon but also a key force in the fight against misinformation and false news. Her list of interviewees ranging from influential politicians like former senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos and Sen. Paolo "Bam" Aquino to cultural icons Bo Sanchez and Alma Moreno only serve as proof of how Karen is dedicated to tackling only the most pressing and relevant issues in society. The numerous awards that have been given to her by internationally recognized organizations like the New York Festival cement both her commitment and skill towards the craft of journalism.

True, people have turned into blind earthlings because of their adherence with political colors. For many, 'politics' became 'religion' because they're so glued with a certain person, not with the principles. These trolls must be so full of themselves, thinking that the opposite slates are absolute enemies. The fact that they can't even start and end healthy arguments really reflects how their "poon" acts as well. Trolls have their ears shut, meanwhile, they want other people to keep their mouths shut. IRONIC, RIGHT? God bless you always, Ms. KD! I've always admired you! ♥️

It was really nice to hear this talk, Karen. Quite apart from the excellent advice, it was a pleasure just to hear YOU speak. I knew you a little before listening to this, because I've seen a few of your interviews on KZbin - in particular with Gigi De Lana and Lyca Gairanod. But unfortunately, as an Englishman, I don't understand Tagalog, and your interviews mix the 2 languages (as was the case a few times in this talk). I'm a passionate fan of Filipina singers (KZ, Morissette, Julie Anne San Jose, Moira Dela Torre, Jona, Yeng Constantino and many others). ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

This is true. Six years have past before I saw this.This is precious talk. Internet and social media had affected my life so much. I am living a fake life. People in social media who insults others will even tell you, that's how social media is used or its the norm. So being from the receiving end of insults, I started giving insults as well. It literally destroyed me. And there's no time machine. But I have to believe its never too late. 😂 Now I need to detach myself from these but I don't know for how long and to what extent. Information and news are important. Maybe its better to be in the receiving end most of the time and I should engage myself more in the real world. And if I were to restart my use of social media, the rules Karen had set are excellent guidelines. Thank you so much for the valuable lessons, Karen.

i also have that experience, i commented on a post and all the bashers (supporters) of a politician insult and bully me they didn't even think that what im telling them is true they just follow their leader blind without even thinking about the future of their children..... they just want to annoy and bully anyone like they own the internet and the world the next day my account was hacked and when i traced the culprit its just one of them Now i just read and listen to what they are saying and laugh or just smile to see them suffer the consequences they make

Your political views invading and corrupting your mind. If you can just open your mind in the world of politics then you’ll be illuminated. Karen is a transparent person, she’ll say what she think base on her research, she’s a journalist and part of her job is to ask some sensitive questions whether you like it or not. Bias has no space in the world of journalism, it’s just your mind thinking it’s bias coz it is against to your views.
