Marketing prof Gad Saad discusses the biological and evolutionary roots of our consuming instinct.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

+UOY KCUF They're not honest at all. Some of those people claim there is no afterlife which is a dishonest claim because they do not know. If they are proponents of materialism that's fine, but claiming there point of view as truth is like the religious they mock.

I bet he graded honestly. C isn't a bad grade. Statistically that's average. A bad grade would be less than C. Everyone expects an A. A is outstanding, exceptional, literally speaking. It's third standard deviation. Unless the class was filled with geniuses (statistically unlikely), the spread should be more normal.

although you still passed, teaching failure is an important part of life. I see lots of new grads entering the workplace who are shell-shocked when their boss yells at them for the first time for doing something wrong.

It's all very interresting, but as humans being, can we fight this instinct and forge another responses to stimuli that normally make us good, docile custumers? It may not work to a social point of view, but as individuals, it sort of give some kind of agency on our biologics impulse.

For people unfamiliar with things like parental investment theory, a lot of this may not make sense. Don't criticize him though, learn the basic of evolutionary psychology and it will all come together. Start by thinking about cavemen. What mating choices would best guarantee survival for a woman and her offspring? Would she choose a man low on the totem pole, or on the top? Would she choose an omega who eats last when food is scarce, or an alpha who eats first? Stands to reason most of us are descendants of those who chose hyper aggressive alphas. There you have the reason why women are attracted to bad boys with resources. Kind of obvious if you think about it.
