I reversed mine. Dr prescribed Metformin and I didn't want to take it - wanted to change my diet instead. So I started exercising 30 minutes a day and ate lower carb while intermittent fasting. Went from 10.2 to 5.4 in 3 months. Good luck - you can do it!

Keto + Intermittent Fasting (i do One Meal A Day /OMAD but generally its 16:8) made me improve my health significantly. The most important thing is to keep yourself busy in the first few days to suppress a lot of negative mental/emotional symptoms. Once you’re in “the zone” it gets way way easier. Also do “cheat meals” instead of “cheat days” so you can recover faster from social indulgences ^^

I watched this video and subsequently implemented the doctor's advice in my lifestyle. Fast forward to February 13, 2018. After recording all my blood sugar readings it showed of average range of 91 to 101. My doctor's first word to me were "it's a miracle" you are no longer a diabetic. I can't go back to eating like before, I just need to keep eating and exercising the way I have been the last six weeks. A VERY BIG THANK YOU , to Doctor SARAH HALBERG!....Folks it can be done.

Joe, Very inspiring story! I have a question: how did you actually monitor your sugar levels so that you could slowly decrease insulin? I'm in a similar situation here, have been eating low-carb for about two weeks now, but my bloodsugar levels don't really want to go down UNLESS I take the usual insulin shots ..., I mean, all in all, they're a little bit lower than before and, what's important, I no longer have these spikes, these roller coaster rides with my bloodsugar. How did you do it? Thanks for your time!

Type 1 diabetes is when your body is allergic to the cells that produce insulin. With DM1 you have to stick yourself with insulin no matter what. DM2 however, yes, that is essentially a carbohydrate allergy.
@w1975b
@w1975b 5 жыл бұрын
@@ellenorbjornsdottir1166 from what I've read or heard others say, type 1 is actually the cells in the pancreas which are supposed to produce insulin CAN'T for some reason, not that your body is allergic to the cells. And the more someone reduces their carb intake, the less insulin they need to take. Keto is still the ideal diet for someone with type 1, to minimize their required insulin as much as possible.

I am so sorry to hear that Dr. Hallberg died from lung cancer in 2022. I saw this video in 2017 when I was recovering from two kinds of endometrial cancer. At the same time, I was diagnosed with diabetes. By following her advice, I reversed the diabetes and lost 40 pounds. I no longer am diagnosed with diabetes. Actually my doctor said that she considers me "a diet-controlled diabetic". I've also been free of cancer for six years. It's not just what I eat, it's also getting more exercise. I moved to Mexico and live in a small mountain town without a car. I walk everywhere. I never got into eating baked goods made with non-grain based flours, but I'm going to try that. I usually break my fast with a breakfast of either quinoa or some kind of eggs, usually with lots of veggies. It doesn't spike my blood sugar the way that oatmeal, yogurt and other things I used to have for breakfast did. I do eat avocadoes every day. So wonderful to live in Michoacan where they are plentiful year-round. I also have locally-made butter, which is the best. My advice to anyone with cancer or diabetes is to take it as a wake-up call that you need to take better care of your health.

I am a Type 1 diagnosed at age 58. After hospital discharge in 2011, a friend/diabetic educator told me to IGNORE the American Diabetes Association recommendations or I would be fat first and deceased in less than 10-years. SI Beez That is great! Imagine if you didn't have this friend, like 99% of other newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetics. They eat ADA-recommended "healthy" whole grains, guaranteeing them a life of diabetes, deteriorating health, and expensive insulin and medication. And all it takes to stop it is a simple change in diet. The ADA, no doubt, is a criminal organization that does not want this word to get out because it would almost put them out of business (there are not enough Type 1's to sustain their bloated organization). A pox on them.
@oldflute
@oldflute 9 жыл бұрын
Eric K Not criminal. Don't put on a tinfoil hat. Face reality. The ADA have simply acted "by committee" to draw up "guidelines" based on an incomplete, in fact almost non-existent, data base. There has been almost NO significant human (clinical) research on dietary effects on diabetes either funded or published in the last 30 years. Blame the NIH and the various private funding organization (yes, including the ADA) for not supporting this type of research.
@puntabachata
@puntabachata 9 жыл бұрын

I'm type 1 diagnosed at age 9 over 40 years ago. When I was in my teens, the ADA started getting afraid of fat and suggesting a larger and larger proportion of carbohydrates for diabetics -- and I listened. Decades of skimmed milk and breakfast cereals and black coffee and rice and steamed wheat berries... then the diabetic retinopathy and the neuropathy and impotence... the endless nagging from my doctors, the increased doses of insulin that ensured an inexorable gain of weight... You're very fortunate that you've learned the right way early on. I've been on low-carb-high-fat for about six years and it's helped a lot but much irreversible damage has been done.

I'm sorry she passed away. This is the first time I come across this video. We need more doctors like her. I was told I was diabetic and was able to reverse my diabetes to below pre-diabetes in 7 months with what she is saying to do. I only eat lean fats (fish, turkey, chicken). It's possible but we are literally addicted to carbs and sugars and people find it hard to give them up. I no longer crave them but I was like a junky in withdrawal when I refused to become a statistic.

OXALIC ACID IS THE CAUSE OF DIABETES type 2 fibromyalgia, kidney stones, and gout. VITAMIN D3 (50ng/ml) + Chromium makes an enzyme called oxalic acid reductase that converts oxalic acid to lactic acid. They should try at least 5000 UI vitamin and add chromium. Most enzymes and proteins made by vitamin D3 hormone upregulation are at the vitamin D3 blood level @50ng/ml. Metformin and Citrate chelate oxalates. They should try the vitamin D3 (4,000 UI) and chromium. Chromium is expected to be deficient as a porphyria develops in the autistic that have high oxalic acid levels and low vitamin D3 status based on the lack of glutathione which removes heavy metals from the body. They should try chromium 200 mcg along with the D3 to remove oxalic acid by converting it to lactic acid. It would make for a very interesting study is to gauge the porphyria (co-porphrin-1) in type 2 diabetics

I was diagnosed with T2D 20 months ago. With an A1C of 6.7, I started researching low carb healthy eating and decided this was for me. Within six months I had dropped my A1C down to 5.6 and now 20 months later my A1C is below 5.0 with an eAG of 83 and daily FBS’s in the low to mid 80’s. In addition, I’ve lost 130 pounds and I’m down in my weight to where I was 50 years ago when we got married. I live by the mantra that my T2D is in remission instead of being reversed because I know that if I don’t eat and live this healthy lifestyle I can easily be back where I started 20 months ago and I NEVER intend on going there again - EVER!

Amidst all doom and gloom, watching this very video of her not just gave me hope to live and survive but also a plan of action to get to a better happier healthier place. This is something my own physician could not do :). Today 5 years down the line, a low carb lifestyle that maam prescribed enables me to live a "normal" , medication free , insulin free life. I have had my a1c in the normal range six months after my diagnosis till now. Maam i want yo say this to you and i hope u can hear me - i never had the chance to meet you. I have a lot of respect and gratitude for you and your contribution to the medical field. I feel deep love for you. I came to know about your sad demise and your long struggle with cancer recently. In that year and half i also went back to an active lifestyle , lost most of excess pounds. Sure that helped. That being said we all have our own journeys. Exactly. I can't afford coconut and almond flour. Most food in my country are organic, but starchy.. again carbs. I also can't afford things like xylitol and erythritol and my country produces sugar. A head of lettuce in the grocery store that only lasts two meals is $4 US, 1kg of rice is less than $2 US and lasts five meals. When you consider that I don't make much money and I have other things to do with my income, it's easier to just buy the food that makes that possible, as I reason that all I need is fuel to keep me going to achieve my goals. Then, I overeat for obvious reasons and the vicious cycle continues.

The side benefit is a loss of nearly 40 pounds. My high blood pressure has also been reduced dramatically. A HFLC diet has worked for me. During the pandemic, I was consuming 500 grams of sugar per day give or take. Mostly sweet tea and cola. It got to the point where I could hardly function every day because of how sick I felt. I assumed I was having heart issues, possibly kidney issues, or liver damage. Maybe cancer. I wasn't sure what it was so I finally decided to begin a "self diagnosis experiment" where I quit consuming any sugars or carbs of any kind and begin intermittent fasting 16/8. The sugar and especially caffeine withdrawal was horrific. Blinding headaches and nausea. After about three days, mostly in bed, the headaches started to go away and the energy I began to feel came back like I hadn't felt in at least 5 years. Before, it was all I could do to stay awake after eating a meal. That went away almost immediately. I am now literally in a recovery process from how sick I was making myself due to my strong addiction to sugar and caffeine. I feel truly like a drug addict as I was ignoring my health just to get my all day fix of sugar and caffeine. Folks like Dr. Hallberg are modern day heroes for trying to get this info out to the public.

Since then, I've made incredible progress. I started at 181 lbs, and now I'm down to 146 lbs. As a lifelong vegan, I realized that my Asian diet, which included a lot of rice, combined with my lack of exercise, contributed to my type 2 diabetes. But things have turned around for me. I now have oatmeal for breakfast and lunch, drink plenty of water every day, and strive to achieve 6000 steps daily. I also incorporate 30 minutes of exercise, burning around 100-200 calories per session. After 8 months of determination and hard work, I am thrilled to say that my A1C has dropped to 5.2. I never thought I would be able to achieve such amazing results without even having to poke my finger for blood tests. I've been following a low-carb diet since my diagnosis, and it has made a world of difference. I want to share my story to inspire others. Yes, type 2 diabetes can be reversed! My mother and grandmother were diabetic=my grandmother was not diagnose until she was in her 70's, and her doctor said ( I remember this as clear as it was only yesterday )= not need for her to change anything, she has lived her life. And I remember=lots of carbohydrates were consumed-my grandmother also got Alzheimer's-really bad-really fast. My mother lived for cake-she was told she had to go on insulin, she was taking metformin-without modifying her diet. Only after she changed her diet and implemented walking into her routine = she had just retired from being a cleaning lady at the local school. So all that physical activity was gone. I was diagnosed being Hypoglycemic=chronic low blood sugar, yes so I always had to eat=and the pounds kept on piling on-even though I never had a problem in my younger years. The advice from doctors was vague. I just have to figure out a better eating plan=which actually works for me. I would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance. May you be blessed.

I am just reading that Dr. Hallberg passed last year! Dr. Hallbert, I hope you can see this post in heaven! I am so grateful to you and this video. At 56, I was a few years into an on-call 24/7 stressful job that didn't allow me the time to do anything besides work, I was tired, had gained 20 lbs., had pre-diabetes and my overall cholesterol was 223. I was offered statins by my doctor but, told him, no thank you, "I broke it. I need to fix it". I found your video. I ramped up slowly, doing low GPS when I couldn't do no GPS but, always aiming for and returning to the "no". I lost 15 lbs the first year and then a year later 5 more. Not huge numbers but, exactly what I needed. I eat so much healthier now. I have the energy to exercise again, no longer have pre-diabetes and my overall cholesterol is just under 200. Sooo grateful. God bless you in heaven and your family here.

This is not as hard to do as you fear. My doc told me to cut out white carbs, which I did, and I lost 25 kg in a few months. What a great motivation that was and is to stay off the carbs. I no long even want the damn things any more, because I know how well this worked for me. If I want to snack, olives, cheese and salami are so much more satisfying than chips, candy, pastries etc. Best yet, the snack urge goes way down when not eating carbs. There are enough other good foods to get you through the rest of your life. You/we do not need any of the old favorites, because new (healthy) favorites arise. And, never be afraid to turn down a carb just to be polite. I just say "Thanks, but my doctor forbids this for me, and s/he has been right so far." People accept that you are making the effort and everyone who has seen the newer, slimmer you will support you. So, just dare to commit yourself, which means don't cheat. I don't have diabetes, but my wife does, and I'm committed to helping her reverse it. Traveling has shown us how simple and delicious other cultures' diets can be. Back in the States, the food often seems unhealthy and overly processed. Our research supports this, highlighting the questionable ingredients in many products. We've found joy in cooking gourmet meals at home, setting a new standard for quality and taste. Eating out, even at high-end restaurants, often disappoints because the food lacks natural flavor. Fast food is even more concerning; for example, McDonald's patties don't have the texture or taste of real meat. Just as one example, try making your own burger from scratch with ground beef, and you'll see how simple and delicious it can be. The more you cook for yourself, the more you'll appreciate the quality and flavor of homemade meals. You'll be in control of the ingredients you're using and have a confident and knowledgeable feeling of what you’re consuming. You'll start to develop high standards for food quality and taste, and you'll realize you deserve the best. As the saying goes, if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Believe me, it's easier and more delicious than you think. Taking charge of your diet is empowering, and the rewards are worth it. Dive in, experiment, and enjoy the journey to better eating and living!

Thank you for your inspiration! I have recently started on this journey due to my weight, HBP and blood tests. My Doctor hasn't said a thing to me about how to change what is happening to my health, just ridicule because I'm over weight! I started at 280 now I'm at 270 with my goal of 200. I'm already starting to feel more energy and I'm looking forward to getting my health back!

Thank you for sharing this information with us and I hope the torch on your research is carried forward by physicians everywhere on this topic.

Hey, just do it. You won't regret it. It will not take long no matter your circumstances. (IF you are type 2) and for your kids it will be life changing. I got diagnosed with type 2 last November and April this year I had completely reversed it. Lost 56 pounds in 4 months and spent 2 months re adjusting to eating a little more than the 4 months of hard dieting. I didn't follow this doctors diets but professor Roy Taylor has a book on audible that is the most valuable piece of information you could get to help as well as these type of videos.

You can do it. Even a totally unhealthy diet won’t kill ya in a month… so if you take a skeptic view, try a month and see how you respond. I’ve personally lost 90+ lbs and have normal glucose and A1c after a while. There will be ups and downs, but that’s the carb addiction that no one addresses. Do thee best ya can

How many carbs can you have to help reverse your diabetes
@errolmagill1611
@errolmagill1611 3 жыл бұрын
@@christinevitali8882 you need to aim for a maximum of 50 gramms, ideally get it down to 20, and no sugar. No pasta, rice or bread. No fruit!! as they have been cultivated to be sweet. Eat less meals. The best source for information is Dr. Berg on KZbin.
