In the video example ot sitting on chair and different chair types, can't a person program a code in deep learning expressing the process of sitting and afterwards simply apply it to different objects ?
@ankitmahlawat1673 жыл бұрын
@@WhisperASMR1 i also think like that , he said that we understand chair is something that we can sit on ,now if computer also get programmed like that they will also produce the same output as you , the difference between us computer is something else , our system is way more complex because our input is 5 senses plus the vivid memory while processor (intellect ) is likely the same . but then we are probably way more than that which we don't understand and will never may be like the memory where do it come from and probably the consciousness that we are aware of things. we are way more than intellect to be precise.
@ankitmahlawat1673 жыл бұрын
after that he goes on to show that forest and family example on board which again is slightly misleading because the input here is not just the figure on the board but his voice as well and our past memory and our already formed neural network. so there is so much more that just the diagram he is considering as input which currently is not replicable.

I have listened loads of Ted talks so far, but I found this one outstanding, exactly what I was looking for unconsciously! Thanks a lot! I'm pretty sure this will be one of the sources I will lean on. Especially "animals learn, we understand. One can unlearn, but can't ununderstand". I'm about to change my career and the sphere is completely different to what I have done for 22 years and what I actually am. 10:39 - The core point taken from this talk is to understand the difference between understanding and learning. Once you learn something there is a chance that you can 'unlearn' it later and change it but once you understand something you can't de-understood it. we understand very fast on the spot, we don' t need to do the processing. So deep learning is good but deep understanding is better.

What is a thought? Let me think about it. My first thought is that thoughts are about. My second thought was that I should make a list. Here's my list of thoughts about thought... 1 Thoughts are about. 2 Thoughts are radically different from what they are about. 3 A thought is a reflection. 4 A thought is a representation. 5 A thought is an analogy. 6 A thought is a process. 7 A thought can be frozen in a sentence. 8 A thought can be transmitted and received. 9 A thought can be extracted from a sentence. 10 A thought can be generated by a sense organ. 11 A thought can dwell in my conscious field. 12 A thought can be remembered. 13 A thought can be forgotten. 14. Thought number 2. is not entirely correct. There is one thought that IS about itself, the thought we label 'self'. MY self is the thought the word 'self' refers to when I use it in the phrase 'my self'. MY self is the thought that maintains my conscious field and I find my self and my conscious field very hard to distinguish. 15. A thought is an abstract entity. 16. A thought is like a painting of a pipe that is not a pipe but merely depicts one (echoing 3, 4 and 5). 17. Thoughts can be instantiated in coded form by neural discharge frequency and by any system able to simulate the process. 16 I'm sure this list can be amended. You are welcome to have at it.

In my opinion consciousness is physical understandable by memories + the functional areas of our bodies, so what makes us different from everyone else (including twins) is going to be everyone's personal memories. Every part of the Central nervous system (in the same way as the rest as the body does) has its specific functions. An amazing property of the brain is the neuroplasticity, the fact that when we think it reacts changing the "highways"= dendrites between neurons. The limbic system (the emotional center) plus the frontal cortex (the brain's area for reasoning) interact constantly (in processing the inputs coming from the sensory and the motor areas) and they "work producing the memories". Memories are thought to be created in the hippocampus (located in the limbic system) and during sleep stored back to the cortex in form of consistent long-term memories. There are several types of "memories", like when we learn cycling or doing some movement, the "central processor" of the motor is the Cerebellum and it's believed it also stores these kind of memories, but I'm specifically referring to the memories that makes us who we are.

As an electrical engineer I have had formal courses of IA and when doing them, I thought how smart it is but also how limited it are, as the video guy believed. But now seeing how much it has evolved and how much calculation power is available, I believe that real counscious IA is unavoidable. By the same process that give us intelligence and we don't really know how it works and how it rises from unintelligent beings (same as life had rise from inert molecules from the soil), IA is going to born by itself by "emergence" process, drived by our will to develope it, just because probability and the fact that random simple processes unavoidable leads to more complex ordered results if they are leaves to evolved by try-n-error selection algorithms.

For, without at least one conscious entity of some sort that truly exists throughout all of future eternity, even if only by a succession of ever evolving species, how could thoughts even have any continued ultimate meaning? The thought would be thought and eventually forgotten as there would be no conscious entity left to remember it.

This Ted Talk is for me. It directly explained my way of thinking. Whenever someone has a point of view whether it be the common opinion of society or the unpopular unique perspective that they provide and that someone openly shares their views with the world. I will always challenge their way of thinking, by asking questions of the other side of the argument. It's not because I believe in the other side of the argument, I do it for two reasons, its to help the person prove their point by elaborating on their reasoning, while also thinking about the other side, and its also to help broaden my perspective of the other point of view. For example, I was in a debate with my auntie, she was arguing that instead of putting drug users in prison, but to legalise the drug so it could lower the crime and desperation to get the drug. I challenged her thinking by saying "That drugs are illegal because it saves lives, as drugs alter people's perception which can lead to paranoia kills and car accidents, OD deaths, and destroy families. I challenged her point for her to elaborate, which then she explained to me her thinking in more detail which then I learned a great deal and she was able to see the other point of view.

Really interesting speach. I am a programmer and I study ICT: it seems like our impressive skill is collecting data in extremely various ways; something that can be reproduced with a large amount of "if-conditions" as a logic of cause-effect phenomenon in a machine. Once I would have said I study to learn how to learn. Now I can say I study to learn how to understand, so that I can find other ways to mix and collect new data in order to make something totally new and revolutionary in my daily life for me and others. An idea, or a thought, has its origin in the mind, the soul. Then the soul instructs the brain to either take action or not, the brain does not think, it is like the cockpit of an aircraft and the soul is the pilot...................Falun Dafa

Great talk that finally makes me feel that ai may not be the next intelligence ruling the world. I have more respect for my mind that can come up with ideas (pre-algorythm) and organic social process to vet ideas. Quite a new perspective, thanks.

This is good, but it does not tell us what a thought is. All the various talks, discussions, etc. you are likely to see simply dance around the question. Thoughts usually enter (bubble up into) what we call our "consciousness" fully clothed in words - all dressed up in language. Obviously, they come to us from what is by far the largest part of our brain - which we think of as "unconscious". But how do they become dressed up in words? What is the process by which they are formed into language? In what form do they exist before they are shaped into language? How are they generated in the brain? Are they a sort of dressing up of a pre-verbal intuition? If so, what exactly is a preverbal intuition? And yes, I know that occasionally an "aha!" thought (or intuition) arrives "undressed", and must be clothed in words consciously by us. And, yes we do consciously add finishing touches to thoughts that are already formed in sensible language when they come into our consciousness, and then combine them with other supporting or related thoughts, before we express them. But, exactly how do we do that? These are all questions that cannot be answered in broad generalities, or with analogies. But that is they only way we seem to ever see them treated.

The indipendent thought is evidence of counciousness, self aware brain, we understand that we understand who we are therefor we are, we have thought. This is evidence of the soul, the soul the evidence of a personal origin, this is evidence of God. God the creator exist. He is personal just like the bible describes it because a river can flow higher than it's source.. a apersonal origin couldnt create the personal.

There is no evidence of a soul or god and if there was we would not still be discussing the matter.

You can assimilate thoughts to images and sounds that emerge from our brains, it's as if our brain simulate your perceptions and recreate their effects. In cognitive psychology thoughts generate emotions which generate behaviour, which in return generate thoughts and so on.

Its not meant to answer the question. They all dance around the idea because they are simply created to plant an idea in your mind (how related). he is sharing his idea, and probably a common idea in that area of science of the why an imperfect mind gives ideas and perhaps encourage us to challenge what we percieve as "right" with the people who surround us. He presented this well. Those who answer the question are not usually the most inspirational. But I dont know hwether you were saying that they dance around the question in a good or bad way, so i'll just leave my reply there :>

Fantastic Talk! I’ve enjoyed a lot watching this talk. It has reminded me D. Hofstadter's Book "Surfaces and Essences" in which he defines Intelligence as the ability to get the point, the essence of any situation or reality. This would be at the heart of our ability to make "Analogies" (That book's second title being "Analogy as the Fuel and Fire of Thinking")

Imagine you don't have a sense organ so we can't experience anything. That means if we want to experience something, we need the sensory organs through which we get information that is then stored in our brain and thus becomes thoughts. When we think, millions of pieces of information are linked and we choose a link that we like

7:58 I would say: "It is the mistake in our thinking 'and our ability to learn from it', not the perfection that separates us from the non creative machines." The difference between a brain and a computing system is what Artificial Intelligence is about the narrow down to a point that it is hard to tell who is who.

Couldn’t you program those imperfections, irrationalities etc and run them on a simulator to see if they do actually help?
@quantumrain47745 жыл бұрын
Yes you probably can, when it come down to it, everything is very simple, strict, and programmable, its when you start piling on layers upon layers of small simple things that gives you something like our brain or a computer, its just that we need to do more research on exactly how the brain does things to replicate it

Ideas or thoughts are imagination coming from our conscience means the more you are experienced, the more you are intellectual, the more you are existencial, the more accurate thoughts you are going to have. The variety in thoughts comes from learning and learning comes from consciousness not vice versa. Consciousness is like hitting an arrow in the eye of rotating fish and it is somrthing that is built on through meditation, through practice, through patience.

About the creative process in human brain,from my perspective ,is actually different stuff and thoughts randomly connected with each other, like words “connecting the dots ” you can’t create a thing or thought with the elements you have never seen . SO if I design a algorithm feed it with Enough Irrelevant and Relevant Elements and give it a specifically defined problem that result could be creative at least from human’s conception like a poem. When it comes to the chair project I think the can’t be recognized type of chairs is because of input data and the misleading of human’s own definition about a chair ,when we create an algorithm that we define a chair as a surface which could hold a man’s hip for a certain time. The answer may surprise us..
