Wow! What an unique and creative perspective of leadership and Tango! I found this video when I was searching Tango. I have been in a leadership role and learning about leadership over 10 years. I first knew Tango was when I first entered the college. I always love ballroom dances and took some basic lessons in waltz, cha cha, ramba, etc. I fell in love in the Tango dance, yet never got an opportuniy to explore it further until last month. So far I learned some basic steps about Tango including there are different types of Tango. I found myself naturally enjoyed the music and the dance. It is fascinating that my most favorite dance can be linked back to what I do at work. I have listened to it 3 times and I am sure I will listen to it more. It is very helpful for both my Tango learning and leadership growth. Thank you very much!

What a voice she has, I am mesmerized by it. I watched it 3 times and only now I am getting to understand what she is actually talking about. By the way the topic and presentation of the topic is very interesting. Well done beautiful voiced lady Sue Cox :)

WOW!!! So many parallels here with other aspects of life.... It really is all about the relationship. I aspire to do so much of this when I work at liberty with my horse, as well as on the dance floor. Thank you!!!

I would not use parallelisms between tango and business because business is created as power relationship between persons, but tango is created with no power exchanges, but emotions, sentiments or love. For the rest I agree with the presenter. Good speech.

Very nice speach that grasps some of the essentials of tango (and business leadership)! Would love to share a tanda one day :-).

When I saw this KZbin I assumed it was a load of pretentious rubbish. But as a London Business School Alumnus and Argentine Tango dancer I gave it a go. I am glad I did. Obviously there are some things I did not agree with but well worth 18 mins of my time. Though a follower going off unexpectedly at a tangent as demonstrated might be a bit troublesome especially if the music is suggesting something else - in Tango and in Business. I see the Tango (and business) Leader as managing on a Macro level. The Follower manages the Micro steps.

I had the same idea before watching... And I am also glad I gave it a go. The idea is very well delivered and tango actually might be a nice way to illustrate it, which is something I did not think about before. Thank you for the video!

Tango is an act of Love, in the same way that AI should be an act of Love as per the AI expert Kai-Fu Lee

I value the follower when she puts the handbrake on when I may seem to move backwards into danger. Think Risk Management Musicality: Macro (Leader) Micro (Follower).. Like in an orchestra perhaps with a touch of Jazz improvisation on the details. But somebody has to decide on overall direction otherwise there is chaos

Deciding who decides on overall direction can add a whole layer on top of the existing layer. It does not have to be 50/50 in the time, but the follower leading even for a few seconds when it is appropriate adds a whole other dimension to it. And yes, it can be a chaos (and most of the times will be) if partners don't feel each other very well or if the dance is not about dialogue, but something else (ambitions, pouring out emotions, etc.). However, imho, choosing who actually leads in a given second adds value and legitimacy to the role of leader as such in my perspective... sort of "I follow you, because I choose to, not because these are the rules" and this can be really beautiful.

There are tango dancers who prefer a one-sided dance coz they feel safer that way... but there are those who absolutely love a two-sided play and interaction. As a woman, i have learned to feel if a man is open to such play, and when i feel the openness, only then i play, and it usually leads to lots of laughs and smiles, takes the tension out of the dance. The play is within the context of music and space, so no chaos. Chaos is when a dancer is not ready and not receptive to such play and tries to fight it. But at the end of the day, it will still be ones individual preference.

I wished all followers in tango tried at least once to do the role of the leader. It's not easy to give the indication and the initiate the move all in a timely manner, specially if she clings on to you like a deadweight XD!

Yes, please, embrace uncertainty and foster creativity. Stop talking about "leading" and "following" in the dance, because this is what leads to wrong conclusions and what makes no sense at all when you really think about a relationship. Collaboration and interaction it is, yes, you don't need to specify different roles to learn that and to do that!
