Although I never met him, the numerous people that have spoken highly of him says it all. I can't fathom what Jungle might have been without this guy. Thanks for cutting those dubs for the DJ's I grew up listening to in the 90's and beyond. Gutted the scene has lost another great. RIEP Leon and thoughts are with his nearest and dearest 😢🙏🏾

I was one of the unlucky (but really actually very lucky) youts in the corner who would have to wait hours and hours to cut my one little dusty tune while rider, bryan g, doc scott ect would be cutting for hours on end. I was a fly on the wall from Toronto on my ones in Music House. Nothing but love for Leon who used to take care of me. Big respect. This is essential history that needs to be preserved. Lush.

RIP to Leon and condolences to the family. I miss going to Holloway to cut dub plates, and in Tottenham. I’m so glad I was around to witness Leon and his dad at work, I was young back in 2000, I was 15 or 16, when I first went to Music House, Garage and early Grime days. I will cherish my dubs and never let them go. RIP to Leon, best in the business. 🙏🏾

There should be so many more glimpses behind the curtain like this, before the people and equipment that built entire genres are gone. Producers should do a reveal of their in-studio secrets at most 20 years after the fact, to help raise the bar and inspire the next generation to push the technology available today to its limits. Fantastic interview and documentation of such an important spot for the jungle/DnB scene. Thank you!

Great piece of film. I visited Holloway Road three times in 1998 as a total nobody. Had to wait for hours but was always treated with total respect. I don't know 100% if it was Leon i was cutting with, probably was. One of those times i was sat in there when Grooverider walked in the studio started joking about and flicking through all the DATs. i just tried very hard not to stare . Luckily Leon was already cutting my tune, so i didn't have to leave! Memories like that are precious.

I once went to Music House on my own from Birmingham with my one Drum & Bass tune in the late 1990s. Looking back, it was a really crap tune called 'Shit Happens'. I got there early and waited at least 4 hours. But DJs that I respected a lot like Grooverider, Hype and DJ Zinc all came in. I was a bit star struck. Loads of people were coming in and asking for presses of tunes. I thought I would never get in, but they were respectful as I was the second person in. Even though I was a nobody they pressed my tune. They must of thought what the hell is this. Anyway, it was a great experience. It is a shame that the dub plate culture within Drum & Bass has all but dissapeared.

Very sad news, RIP Leon. I still remember back in '99 making my trip down to Holloway from my small market town near Oxford to get my first ever dubplate cut at Music House, being excited and slightly intimidated! Waiting, CD in hand, hoping you didn't get thrown out because your music was shit. I remember being asked what my music was called, as there was a few of us trying to recreate the oldskool hardcore rave sound of the early 90's. I just called it "new oldskool rave music" (later it become known as Hardcore breaks or Nu-Rave), and he said he liked it which was amazing to hear. Still got my dubs here now. Got another few dubs cut to give to people like Ellis Dee and DJ Flashback, and went from there. Music House is such an important part of UK rave culture - big up Leon and everyone involved in MH.

Hi my name is Sara I'm the producer on the Renegade Hardware documentary There's a big section on music house in the doc as it played a massive part in shaping the scene and your interview video with Leon would fit perfectly in the documentary If you could help us out with some shots we would credit you and your company. This documentary is going to be shown all around the world and played in the Genesis cinema later on this year. Hope to hear from you soon!

This is such a beautiful video. The love of the music shines out of it. Real music. Most people will probably never have heard hardly any of the stuff these dudes have produced over the years but let's not forget how influential it is across so much EDM and pop music today, so in a way they have. Respect.

Big thanks to Music House. An institution, community, and core service to underground music! Great memories and experience back in the day (1995-200) making acetates/ dub plates. A proper underground service and experience in Holloway. Long live the advanced queue to gettin' ya prized dub plate. I remember the WTF faces on the change to cutting our non DnB & Reggae sound which tore through the 'dentist' waiting room lol. Never a dull moment. :) Cheers Leon & Paul. Keep up the great work, good to see you still enjoying it, and hope ya going well. Jon (Captain Tinrib), now in New Zealand!
