Man by the sound of things the Traveler series has a lot more going for it than I gave it credit for. I gotta admit, if it wasn't for you I wouldn't even entertain the idea that it's actually canon, which I know it is, but it gave me too many whimsical family friendly adventure vibes to take it seriously haha.

If I Get this right: The Traveller book series take place during the Cataclysm time period, do you know when during the Cataclysm time period all this take place?
@Teeironor4 жыл бұрын
It takes place shortly after Pandaria was discovered, but it's completely unrelated to the main events of the expansions (other than the fact that an Alliance-Horde war is taking place).
@Dootnd4 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure non of that is canon...

All the novels are, including the Traveler series.
@Dootnd4 жыл бұрын
@@Teeironor technically, sure... however, there seem to be important parts of these, that are in direct conflict with the lore and how things work in the Warcraft Universe. That whole thing with the Whisper-Man not outright dying for no real reason, is a good example...

@@Dootnd You say that as if it were the first or the last time Blizzard has contradicted its own lore 😄 Also, there have actually been Forsaken NPCs in the game with the very same ability. One example that comes to mind is Chadwick Paxton in Nazmir. Finding and attaching (sometimes new) limbs is also mentioned, for example, in the Before the Storm novel. And these are just some of the more recent examples.

@@Teeironor Like what? Also, there is a difference of magnitude between reattaching limbs and being in pieces to a degree, that he fits into a bag...

I mean... Christ, I can go on for days on end about the changes and contradictions Warcraft has done to its lore over the years. I even have videos on my channel dedicated to specific examples. Blizzard has constantly retconned its entire universe's story since the inception of Warcraft. Orcs don't worship the "foul devils of the Underworld, residing in Hell" like they did in Warcraft 1; nor do the Humans believe in the very Christian-like God of Warcraft 1 and 2, do they? The draenei were retconned from natives of Draenor who had a centuries-long war with the orcs in Warcraft 3 to what they are today in TBC. Before Chronicle 1 came out, the spirits of the dead were said to go to the Twisting Nether; the Shadowlands didn't even exist as a concept then. They turned the Broken Isles from a few small islands pulled out from under the sea by Gul'dan to an entire small continent in Legion, that was apparently there all along and we just never noticed. And these are just some of the big ones that come to mind. There's countless small changes that I can barely keep track of. In most of my earlier videos where I reviewed new Warcraft lore books, I had a dedicated section just for what stuff they retconned. Blizzard constantly retcons and changes their lore from expansion to expansion; sometimes, they even contradict aspects established by the previous expansion to suit their story. They've even started retconning stuff established in the Chronicle series, which was supposed to be the "be all and end all" of Warcraft lore, the final version of its origin story. As to the Whisper Man, he was only missing his legs and arms in that specific context where he was stuffed in a bag; his head was still attached to his torso. Chadwick Paxton, whom I've mentioned before, was literally cut in half at the waist and you (the player) had no problems reattaching him. It doesn't go to the extreme where, for instance, a Forsaken (even someone like the Whisper Man) could survive being decapitated.
