Denji may act selfishly on principle, but he is probably the most sensitive to others' feelings in the entire show. He takes time to reflect on others' feelings, and consider the motivations behind their actions.

True, many people fix on the things Denji SAYS (I don't care; I just wanna cope a feel), but the things he does tell a different story. He's probably too emotionally stunted to be able to express his actua thoughts and feelings and say this BS to deflect

Obviously I won’t spoil anything, but reading the manga I would describe Denji as ‘selectively’ empathetic. Even though he can’t properly describe everything he’s feeling, he’s usually pretty honest in everything he says. He always seems to try and understand the people he knows, and in some cases the people he fights. Still, he mostly does what he wants and serves his own interests for the most part. As a vague example, his solution to the infamous ‘trolley problem’ in the manga displays that best.
