Everything about this movie is so unconventional and way ahead of its time. The makers have dared with a whole lot of things in this movie... First, showing national unity through inter-cultural marriages that defies casteism. Then comes the Female lead who is depicted as a dark-skinned in a black & white movie. Next comes the way the Male protagonist of the story accepts the female protagonist without much fuss and unwanted hatred towards her. And the most beautiful part is the storyline, theme and simple plot that doesn't rely on a typical stereotypical twist. Also the movie shows the reality of how women demean women easily while men accept without much prejudice. It also deals with the actual way dark skinned ppl face rejection from the society. The father of the Punjabi Family is way too forward in thinking and very much ahead of the time of this movie's release. Also this movie shows things like Apartment lifestyle, Maid Agency, women leaving house towards hotel to escape from work, etc that I wonder if the audience at that period could've understood or related with... This movie indeed deserves a great appreciation and recognition for its uniqueness and unconventional story...
