As much as this is a testament to hard work, it's just as much a testament to how much kids can achieve when they are wealthy. Having the money to be able to spend the time training and practicing this sport is harder to achieve than the climb itself. I believe there are many out there who could achieve as much with the same resources as her. I doubt that will make it into the school and corporate motivational speech circuit she and her dad run.

I really wish, as a long time climber, that people who climb a mountain as part of a guided party, who do none of the actual climbing but only follow ropes put there by the real climbers, have to put an asterisk with their claim of summiting. This would serve to differentiate between a guided and a non-guided ascent, which are two COMPLETELY different things.

Plus in her “summit” pictures where is her oxygen mask? It’s nowhere in the picture. Most pull there mask down under there chin but here is gone. Where is her hood on here summit summit? Plus that Marmot summit suit is a antique. I could go on and on, but nothing in the store adds up.

@@ThatGirlLib First of all I don't think graduating early has anything to do with any of this. However, by the time little miss Lucy was 12, HER DADDY had taken her to climb the highest point in ALL of the lower 48 states. When she was 13, HER DADDY took her to Africa to climb Mt Kilimanjaro. The following year HER DADDY took her to Alaska to climb Denali. In Naperville Illinois where Lucy lives, HER DADDY is Rodney Witter. President of the Witter and Westlake investment firm. Do I need to go on or can you do the math on this one yet? I think it's safe to say her parents have money. Even if she had sponsors coming out her nose for the Mt Everest climb, it still took TONS of money to take her all over the country then half way around the world to Africa then to Alaska.
