Presence is monumentally underrated. Some of Zep’s best tunes are on it. Achilles Last Stand, For Your Life, Nobody’s Fault But Mine and Tea For One. It’s guitar driven and incorporates funk, excellent production.

Silas, since you like Since I’ve Been Loving You, you should really like the last song on the album, Tea for One It is a slow blues….just aching with melancholy. In a way it is a look back at Since I’ve Been Loving You. Beautiful blues guitar by Jimmy. Robert wrote it in a period of great sadness and loneliness, desperately missing home and his family.

You`re right about the Elvis reminiscence (for instance "Baby let´s play house",by Elvis).From the title I guess the song is going back to their teenage years,boys and girls meeting at the candy store and stuff like that,like we see in the movies Grease or American Graffiti,so it´s a sort of atribute yo the music back then

@ Silas Bailey Zeppelin’s final studio album is In Through The Outdoor. Then Coda was released a few years later to satisfy a contractual obligation. I highly recommend both and Robert Plant has had a long solo career with plenty to react to, as well as Page & Plant. Then there are the live cuts from Earls Court, The Song Remains The Same, Celebration Day ( with Jason Bonham filling in for his dad). All stellar performances!!!!

Great reaction - lamp After this album they released In Through the Out Door. It was their last studio album. It’s sad to think that we never got to see Zeppelin in the 80s because it would have been so interesting to see what they’d come up with and the last studio album gives you a taste of where their music was going - John Paul Jones wrote most of the album so it’s very keyboard and synthesise heavy Coda was a collection of unreleased tracks from their catalogue and Page added new hidden gems to the Deluxe Edition
@helenespaulding75622 жыл бұрын
Well, people often say that the last album was indicative of where their music might have gone. But I dont know as that’s true. All speculation of course. The last album was the way it was because Jimmy had succumbed to a vicious heroin addiction and was MIA for so much of the studio work and was not contributing creatively as much. So JPJ and Plant basically created the songs. Jimmy would come in on his own and lay down guitar after the fact. Not a happy or good time for any of them. Had Bonham not drunk himself to death I wonder if Jimmy could have kept clean. And I also wonder if he would have wanted to stay in a band that would have gotten less guitar driven and more synth heavy.

@@helenespaulding7562 There are rumours that Plant wanted to return to simpler tracks, not the guitar heavy stuff on Presence. Jones wanted more tours like the 1980 European Tour (small venues, small set list) I guess it’s all imagination but it would have been interesting. I just can’t see them changing too much like The Who did in the 80s

@Helene Spaulding hey how’s it going? I wonder too since Robert was the main lyricist and the direction he went with Pictures at Eleven etc since he was also producing then too …. Maybe Zeppelin would have had some of Robert solo flavor to it…..alas we shall never know. It’s all good though we got the best that there ever was or ever will be. ☮️

You’re not reaching at all, Silas! Yeah, Robert LOVED Elvis. This song is just a fun look back and homage to their roots in 50’s style rock and roll. I never dug that style but it’s fun nevertheless. After Zep broke up, Plant formed a band that strictly played this style of music called The Honeydrippers. They released an EP you might like if you enjoy this style.

This album is widely panned and.....but....John Bonham creates the greatest rhythms ever recorded.....on every track. Bonham's knowledge and admiration of jazz percussionists is the thing that holds some of these rather thin tracks together.
