This is absurd. I had a kid, obviously on drugs, stumble into my garage while I was sitting right there and start sifting through our spray paint cans. Never once did I fear for my life. I didn’t think about shooting him. I simply asked for his phone, scrolled through until I found “dad” and called his dad to come pick him up. That’s it. The kids probably in rehab by now. So I imagine when you're trying to pick up your brother, you'd go up and knock on the door and wait for someone to open it. Most people would open the door or ask through an intercom "Can I help you?" Or "Who are you?" And when this kid says he's here to pick up his brother, the homeowner would say " You're at the wrong house." Not this person, who apparently saw a black kid on their doorstep and shot without asking questions. I sincerely doubt that this kid did anything to provoke the homeowner other than knocking on their door while being black. I have had strangers in my house on two separate occasions. Both of these people "walked into the wrong house". I came home from night shift and found an absolute stranger sleeping on my couch. I woke him up and told him he was in the wrong house. He wouldn't leave so I phoned the police. At no time was I afraid for my life. I don't own a gun but even if I had a gun, I wouldn't have pointed it at him, let alone shot him. He was a stupid kid who was probably at a party and wandered into the wrong house. He didn't deserve the death penalty for trespassing.

I've just heard too many stories even some local of horrible mistakes driven by that toxic mixture of paranoia and guns. Someone's son sneaks home at 2 am and the dad shoots them dead assuming them to be an intruder, only realizing their mistake when they turn on the lights and look at the corpse. Someone's dementia suffering grandpa, or someone too drunk mistakenly walks into the wrong house unarmed and unthreatening, yet thanks to this paranoid rhetoric the home owner starts shooting at them before there's a chance to find out. Something similar happened in Lakeland, FL. A neighbor brought a wrongly delivered package to the proper home, rang the doorbell and left. The father and son ion the home armed themselves for no reason and went out opposing sides of the house. A woman was parked on the side of the road by the house texting someone. The father, confronted her and then, with no reason, fired into the car. His equally moronic son came running around the corner and did likewise. The woman escaped without harm thankfully. The two morons were upset because they were arrested. The apple fell very close to the tree.

This reminds me of that case in Michigan where the homeowner shot a drunk woman through the door because she knocked on his door late at night.
