Teena Marie had one of the greatest voices of all time.Although she never achieved the Heights as her contemporaries, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, in my opinion she belongs in that category.R.I.P. Teena.
@freddygigliotti72143 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right. Her and Teddy Pendergrass in my book are the greatest singers ever. Unfortunately, they didnt reach the white audience for whatever reason. Teddy had a name recognition problem. People were confused and didnt realize he had one hell of a career b4 going solo with Harold melvin and the blue notes. I myself couldnt figure out why Teddy, when he went solo, sounded just like Harold melvin from the blue notes. Alot of people back than made that mistake. When a band is called harold Melvin and the blue notes and you are the lead singer people will assume you are harold melvin. Teena on the other hand, was about to be let go from Motown because they had no idea what to do with her. Thank God for Rick James. Whitney, Mariah, and Celine are all great singers, but Teena is a songbird that can not be contained. Her voice just soars! We are all privileged that she shared her gift with us. It's called soul music because it touches and pierces your very soul. For me, she is my favorite female singer and Teddy, my favorite male singer.

Teena sang from somewhere so deep inside & told a story of Pure LOVE. Someone made love & showed love & passion for her in an unconditional way. No one can sing like that unless they were touched to their very core by a love so real & strong it poured out of her & into her voice. Who ever that man was made me realize who gave me his heart ❤. It wasn't over night. I had a struggle to get it but once I did, that man went from an uneasy Lion to the most content cat purr ever. The moment he handed me the reigns to his heart he asked me to be his wife. He was 26 I was 23. After all that hard work he was killed by someone who was so jealous of him days before we said I do. Like Cain killed his brother, out of jealousy. It's been over 30 years. I miss him but God promised a resurrection & I hope I am there to greet him when he wakes up. John chap 5 vs 28 & 29.

Teena was one of the greatest "live" singers to ever grace this earth. Her studio recordings were gorgeous, but her live performances were absolutely, positively stunning. I have spent half of my life wishing Lady T. would have released a greatest hits Live from the Apollo. Can you just imagine what an electrifying record that would have been ? R.I.P. Ivory Queen, and thanks for leaving such a beautiful and impressive legacy behind for everyone to enjoy. (and learn from)
@kshinokevin5 жыл бұрын
Yes. I would expect an Standing Ovation from that (very critical) audience in Harlem, no doubt.... If they love you, they will cheer for you, enthusiastically; if not, the audience would let the performer know of their disapproval and then you will get the hook from (Howard) Sandman Sims and eventually get booted off the stage in minutes. Lady T is a legend, y'all.

Teena Marie's astonishing vocals are so mesmerizing and so deep raw and so real and so head on ... that when she hits those higher upper notes in second soprano it brings on a supernatural feelings in the depths of my ❤️ soul sometimes as I listen to her voice all I can do is weep just thinking about the love that I lost and never really recovering from all the pain and the hurt of losing that special someone it can leave you honestly feeling helpless lonely and emotionally warped most of Teena's songs pertains to love and all thereof
