Would u say Joe Mad is the Brock Lesnar of the comics industry? Coming in so young, taking over, being a superstar name making big $$$ burning out in a few years and moving on to other things while coming back every few years for short runs ( Ultimates 3, Spiderman, savage Wolverine, Inhumans & a few random covers )

Recently revisited this work and experienced a whole new appreciation for it. This era of Joe Mad is short lived and very special. I love his work from this time, I wish there was more of it! Imagine him having had the chance to do a Spider-Man run at this time. That would have been killer! Love that you guys highlighted this very cool piece of work from the great Joe Mad!!

i highly agree!..his Style at this stage was at the purest creativty! & Americana! (asides the obvious influence of Adams) he managed to create a style unique to him & only him once the manga style came along i kinda lost interest..I wolud've luv too see him do more books in this style though he had a good run thrughout the series.. i beleive this was his best style (it was bouncy yet detailed gorgous work!)

I have Joe Mad's Uncanny run. His art would pop out of the pages. His Ultimates 3 run was so-so. Still a great artist.

I’m betting u got it in a pack at Toys R Us like me Ed. I scored so many Marvel packs this way. Plus Spawn #1 and both Spawn Batman’s. They had some crazy ass clearance sale on them and I grabbed them all for like $4 each. Most box packs at 4 comics in them. I discovered Comic Shops way late too, like just before the crash when some started to close up. Got a lot of 90% off in the wake.

I kind of get it but I dont get it why artists like Mads are so down on themselves. It seems to be a theme of incredible artists. I was one of the ones who was like "WTF is this?" when he took over on X-Men. I was very quickly won over. These were definitely my dying days of reading X-Men comics. If not for Mads I would have been out way before. I am sure many people all over the world feel the smae.
