The most under-rated Canadian rock band. These guys never failed to perform live where ever you went to see them you were never disappointed. Love these guys. Great upload thank you. Cheers

Yes! They Rocked out from the first time I saw them at The Horseshoe Tavern to a Strip Bar in Scarborough!

First time I saw them had to line up forever, it was Larry's Hideaway, now the bar's gone and 3/4 of the band.

They weren’t underrated. They were rated exactly where they belonged.

Finally got the chance to see them in Calgary in 91 at the Westward, one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to, I started listening to them when my older cousin bought Frantic City, I was only about 7 at the time and I used to play it over and over again, it’s still one of my favourite albums of all time.

Frankie was an innate trendsetter, forging his unique style. Every subtle move he made and every word he sang were distinctly his own. He exuded captivating charm, keeping spectators guessing with each unpredictable action. Those fortunate enough to know him carry an indelible mark left by his presence. Gord, a gentle spirit, never encroached upon others. Steve, a silent force, awaits his moment to convey his essence. Dave, a compassionate and amiable individual, graces us with his presence. It was an absolute joy to have crossed paths with each and every one of them.

It sure ain't Larry's Hideaway. LOL I have to wonder if it isn't one of those places like the Brunswick House in T.O. where standing (and thus blocking the serving staff) was pretty much forbidden.

Ok, I was unaware that Frankie passed away (a long time ago - so sorry), which I have learned from reading the comments. Funny story, for those who care ... being in the scene those days I was well exposed to Teenage Head and as a student at U of W in the early 80s had the "opportunity" to work at Otis Elevator in Hamilton for a summer and a super nice person I met there, who did a clerical job, took me to the workers' canteen and introduced me to Frankie, who was working there in the factory. All crazy, all great.

from 78-80 Teenage Head really made a lot of raves around the rock scene and they simply are among those great groups that knew how to rock love to get the first two albums they were at their creative best.

I wasn't expecting the crowd to be so sedated. Every time I had seen the Head, it was always non-stop dancing good times. Anyway, this was very enjoyable to see.
@contestor79 ай бұрын
It's possible the audience was told to stay seated for the benefit of the filming of the show. The seated patrons were pretty raucous during the performance.
@RestLes2 жыл бұрын
The typical Teenage Head performance in Winnipeg (and I attended most of them) would have seen a wild sweaty dancing frenzy near the front. I suspect that everyone was told to behave while they filmed for the TV show. Before the encore you can see how rowdy the crowd was getting. I believe I attended this show but I have to admit that my actual memory of Teenage Head shows (and two or three days after each one🤢), is very hazy.

Frankie Venom, one of the best Rock'n'roll performers ever seen on stage!!! The band, a machine, backing him up perfectly. Great musicians with their hearts and emotions on the spot. Never wear a 'Teenage head' T-shirt in the US! There's always the possibility to get arrested in some degenerated WASP ruled counties...still nowadays...

I was taught by my friends at the time when I turned 18 and started going to bars that that's what you do. They taught me not to act like an idiot, and to tap your beer bottle on the table when you want an encore. You just sit there and check out the band. If one of their friends who they looked up to got up to dance, well, that was okay. Think maybe they were bullying me?
@housearrestband6 жыл бұрын
This is the best teenage head performance that was on tv at the time but that audience was the worst!! the tv production people must have been told to go out and find the best behaved people they could find..remember this was just after the ontario place riot so they might have been trying to show a well behaved audience to try clean up the boys reputation........just a thought...

No crowd at any Teenage Head show I was at would have ever done what they were told to do. I will cite the Ontario Place Forum show as the best example of that. 😆 You know, the show that got rock bands banned from the forum forever?

They were way too talented to be punk, but they used the label to get exposure. Of course the riot didn't hurt. I saw them way back in the Paleozoic Age, I think at North Toronto CI but I can't remember last week, never mind over 40 years ago. I do remember that Frank was the best frontman I have seen in my lifetime. They were a great, great band, especially live.

Where are their cell phones? Oh yeah! I forget this is circa 1981 not 2019 but there's not any difference! Canadian Rock n Roll is Dead and Buried as long as Drake makes shitty music and the CBC and Canadian Music Industry supports him. Teenage Head got ripped off by the music industry go figure - because they never compromised their music to the failure of their success.

I don't think Teenage Head was trying to sell an image unlike Malcolm Maclaren's clones who were told to dress a certain way. The Pistols all dressed the same because they were all poor and had no money to spend on outfits unlike other Punk bands where fashion became more important than the music they played because they were trying to sell an image just like all of the bands from 2019.

Toronto should have shipped the steel they used for the city hall and other ugly buildings in from Quebec or Pittsburgh! No, arrogant Torontoians should have used the wood from their precious cottages to build the infrastructure throughout the Centre of the Universe, Then they would be happy and have nothing to complain about.
