I think it's cuz some people find it annoying (maybe offensive? Not sure.) Like I see a lot of people on the web get annoyed when someone calls themselves an "otaku" cause they're just degrading themselves lol. It's not something to be proud about, I believe. I'm no expert but I think why ppl call others a weeaboo when they speak japanese is because they're just speaking all english but then they just throw in a japanese word often used in anime, like gomenasai. I mean it's fine if you're just joking around but if you seriously just try to fit in a Japanese word in every sentence, especially if you're pronouncing it incorrectly (if you're using it in real life), then they just consider you a wanna-be or something :/ That's my guess.

***** i think you're on the mark. i remember this one girl that would do it for no reason and it would end up cutting a few of my friends and i out of the convo so she could "talk" to my friend in japanese and use japanese words and the way anime people said them and stuff but the problem was, my friend is only half by birth and doesn't really speak it either and it made her and the rest of us awkward, like i would have been fine with it if she was trying to explain something that was related to japanese stuff/culture but didn't know the word for it english. so yes people do get annoyed when they really push something that probably wont/can't happen if they're planning on living in another country it would make more sense, she only really did it to benefit herself and make herself feel prouder that she was able to talk and show it off and stuff

Yuiki Snow Oww that's not cool. :/ I feel her, I'm chinese and people always expect me to be able to speak in that language when I can't, since I grew up in Canada and can barely speak after hearing english and english everyday. :P Anyways, cutting ppl out of a conversation just to talk to your friend who's from a place related to anime isn't nice. I think people make the mistake of thinking everything in Japan is just anime. It's probably very big but there's more to Japan than just that. Liking a culture is cool, wanting to learn more about it is awesome, but the way that girl is trying to use japanese for that reason is awful :/ I'm a big fan of anime but I honestly don't go around saying words because I don't know the language well (I try to learn, but I dont have much time for it), and I think it might make me look like a total idiot XD I think I did have a weeaboo stage once, but not anymore lmao.
