How do you build up your own kits with your own samples? Is there software to help you organise your kits, and what is the limit in time or memory? thanks
today i finally got it. where to find those monkeyys tho??

Would it be possible to add a transfer mode to the Drum modules to interface with the PO series?? One for the PO 32 would be awesome, since Microtonic is not free and the Sample library avail for download is somewhat limited...??? I think the OP1 community would drip with joy tears if an alternative drum engine to Microtonic was to be available on the OP1---
@emanuilspasov367810 жыл бұрын
I really don't like the fact that the effects are applied to the entire kit. Like what if I want just the snare to have delay on it, can I not do that?
@teenageengineering10 жыл бұрын
Emanuil Spasov Indeed, would be cool with separate FX per sound. You can achieve this by using resampling. Record the sample with the desired effect on it and then import that to your kit. Not super simple nor direct, however most often there is a way to accomplish everything you want to do, using OP-1.
@emanuilspasov367810 жыл бұрын
I kind of thought about that but wanted to make sure it would work. Thanks a lot! I still think you have a fantastic product on your hands.
@KimStennabbCaesar10 жыл бұрын
You could put the same drum kit on 1 and 2, then just apply the effect you want on one of them, then record them separate to tape.

Late to the party, but I cannot wait to pickup one of these lil chaps! QUESTION: When editing drum envelopes, is it possible to apply changes simultaneously to all samples? This can be a super cool effect when using a sequencer to trigger the samples. ie. make the release really quick for all samples, so it's super choppy, and then slowly open it out.....
@re8et3552 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, the LFO to FX section does apply changes to all sounds, change destination to the DRUM and you'll get choppyness to all sounds!! It's not possible to apply the LFO FX to just ONE sound however, it's all or nothing :)

Hey Teenage Engineering, I've finally bought an OP-1 and I love it. However can make one suggestion? It would be great if I could group pitch the samples in drum mode. Especially for recorded audio. Perhaps using shift and the encoder? Thanks, Teddy
@teenageengineering7 жыл бұрын
Cool, thanks for your support! If you program a beat using the pattern sequencer, exit back to drum mode and hold any other key than middle C, the whole pattern will be transposed. Shift + Blue is forward / reverse so already taken. Good suggestion though, thanks!
@re8et3552 жыл бұрын
It's possible to automate the LFO section to the white encoder (pitch) as P.DEST, Drum (the Drum symbol) as DEST. Source mod ENV for example, or G... it will affect pitch of all samples played in the pattern LIVE!! Using G you would have to sqibble a bit, but if you can get a somewhat linear SOURCE modulation, all the samples will receive the same amount of pitch offset, once played.

Is there a polyphony when you play drums live (use it like an MPC) ?? Unfortunately Pocket Operator 33 does not offer this... Only one sound can be heard at a time.
@teenageengineering5 жыл бұрын
yes, you can play all 24 sounds at once if you like. PO-33 K.O! has four note polyphony.

@@izraelservantofalmightygod It's not an AKAI sampler, it's a PO 33 :) Lol!! OP1 can do everything an AKAI or MPC sampler can, whilst USB midi and audio.... it's called choke function (used in open and closed hihats a lot) , it's active on the vertical axys of the 4x4 grid, so you have 4 non-choked that can play simulteneously... :)

I'm seriously interested in the NEXT synthetic from Teenage Engineering. The OP1 looks beautiful and fun but only having two song slots makes it useless. If I'm inspired I'll sketch out four or five songs on Caustic on the train or bus then dip in and out of them as I develop them separately. Doubtless the OP1 would be more inspiring than Caustic to hold in my hand and sketch out a song on the move, but I can't dip in and out of the ten or so songs I'm usually working on at a time, I can only work on two. So I'm sticking with Caustic until the OP2...
@mattnicholson449211 жыл бұрын
The point of the Record and Tape is that you can connect USB to your PC and move them off like a USB drive. Think of the OP-1 as an instrument that lets you record ideas, not arrange like a DAW. However, the OP-1 integrates pretty well with computer DAWs since it can do MIDI over USB and has a line out jack. Pair it up with Reaper, which is free, and it's very usable as an external combo synth/sampler. I've gotten it to work well with Ableton Live. There's another LFO called "MIDI" which really just takes in 4 MIDI CC messages and lets you route them to whatever parameters you want, so you can sequence those from your DAW. Point is, the OP-1 is deceptively capable. Not cheap like Caustic of course, but you can't as easily go beyond the borders of the app.
@TheMrAlexander11 жыл бұрын
Matt Nicholson Thanks for taking the time to reply. I see your point. I'm probably in the wrong mindset about it. I like the sampling aspects - seems more powerful than other engines. Well done sir, you've pointed me back in the right direction!
@lolitslea1710 жыл бұрын
TheMrAlexander I was going to say this before I read Matt's comment, it would be totally cool if they came up with more song slots, but I bought the OP-1 because a group that inspires me uses it in their live sets and on their tracks. in that case, TE made this synth for almost anyone whether you're into psychedelic rock like myself or complete electronic music. It is way more versatile than some synths out there but maybe it's not the one for you! I'm certain TE will come out with something you'll love so waiting wouldn't be harmful! best of luck!
@TheMrAlexander10 жыл бұрын
Lea I've actually bought one now and I love it. :-) It's great for sketching songs but I still need a PC-based DAW to turn them into proper songs. Still - great for sketching and as an instrument in its own right.

ODDVIBE Technically, isn’t a “Choosing Beggar” just someone who is asking and the people in that sub are just being jerks about how specific the ask is? I mean somebody who asks for $1 is being really specific. So I guess we’re supposed to think that a beggar who is also a chooser is worse than a beggar ho accepts any old donation? Do you think a person who has a sign saying “Will work for food” who has someone pick them up and offer work - and they do the work and the person who picked them up gives them Cat Food? Still a choosing beggar? Yes, I realize I’m bitching about the existence of a Reddit sub but I mean come on, sometimes those subs are like Flipping the bird at Humanity like ... we shouldn’t always just let everything exist
