Thanks for making these. Pretty useful. There's not a whole lot of content out there on the R*S Euro-serge

Im thinking about buying the VCM to process acoustic sounds. Would you recommend that? I haven't heard any demos of a percussion loop going into the thing, but I Imagine it could become quite interesting...

Yes, if you're looking for distortion type processing it's one of the best, and I've had good results folding synthesized drum sounds and rhythms.

Will we see any new demos soon like for the active cv or the gto?

Probably not soon to be honest. I'd love to cover these modules at some point but there's no DIY option, are expensive and I have other financial priorities currently. Sorry.

@@teezdalien Aw that’s unfortunate and yeah they’re really expensive. Hope there’s light at the end of that tunnel soon. Your videos have been helping me a bunch! Wishing you the best 🙏🏽

@TheMachinesWon thanks for the kind words. I'd still really like to add the active pro to my system, just can't say when that will happen.

Man, thank you for doing these Serge videos. Not much info on them out there. You're a legend. Do you plan on uploading new ones with updated/new techniques or discoveries?
@teezdalien

Hey thanks for the feedback! I hadn't really thought about new videos covering new techniques with these modules. It's a possibility perhaps, I've been a bit quiet here lately hahaha.. if you've got any suggestions or requests feel free to shoot... maybe one on feedback patching might be worthwhile.

The top section, in "LO" mode: does it "click" when controlled by a fast moving CV? A transient envelope for instance, or a complex fast CV of any kind.
@teezdalien
@teezdalien 4 жыл бұрын
Yes you get subtle clicks with sharp rising/falling edges as you would expect. It's not as apparent as with my Intellijel uVCA though.

The feedback loop at the very end. There's a similar trick I learned back in the day when I had a Mixer that had 2 auxiliary sends on each Channel along with 4 band EQ. I had a Bucket Brigade delay and a distortion pedal and I would do the old trick of putting them on their own axillary Channel and putting it back into their own separate channel on the mixer. And then I would Crossfade the auxiliary returns for one and the other and cross modulate the two. And sculpt the remaining sound with EQ.

Nice, might have to try a patch like this. I'm also fascinated with feedback techniques and find it interesting and satisfying to experiment with.

@@teezdalien I think you'll like it. All I did was plug auxiliary 1 into the delay, and auxiliary 2 into the distortion. I had an old Radio Shack "realistic" brand Little BBD Echo delay, and a "DOD Death metal distortion" that had a 3-band EQ on it already. And then I put them into their own channels On the mixer and send auxiliary 1 to 2 and 2 to 1 Along with bleeding a little bit of their own signal to themselves. And then tweak the EQ to get this crazy jerking and Jarring rhythmic wall of noise. That was just awesome!🎹🎧💫💀😵👌😎👍

@@maxmatson1578 Definitely going to try this! I used to have one of those DOD pedals too, back in my guitarist days. Thanks for sharing this idea.

I am not a fan of the noise sounds.... BUT..... this is a good overview of the possibilities, and extremes. I have this unit.... and it is also capable of slow/subtle background drones or atmospheres.

I'm getting this as my next wavefolder/shaper.. I already have the Intellijel Wavefolder II, it's good, but it seems limited. Other options were, Intellijel Bifold (out of stock like forever and ever), the Bastl or Dannysound "Timbre", or the Vinicus "Overfollder". You can tell I've been researching this quite a bit.
@teezdalien
@teezdalien 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't had much experience with other wavefolders except for those built into the Verbos CO and Buchla oscillators. Those are really nice giving extra control over the affected harmonics, but the downside is that they don't have external input. Otherwise I find the general sound and character of wavefolders to be pretty samey. The three different sections with the ins/outs of the VCM is what really separates this module from the rest imo.
