Happy Birthday! It is the same herd that is in my videos, they just were nice enough to group together for one shot. I actually have about three times more elk video for that day, but figured the average viewer was going to be taxed enough with the amount I added.

I usually use a 3/1 with a heaping spoonful of instant coffee. That supper looked pretty good. We get Hereford corned beef up here, but I will look for the brisket. Thank you for inviting us over, Fernbark. Stay safe and stay warm

3/1 is generally way too sweet. I really like the 2/1. We get the corned beef here, but canned in tin, not a pouch like is available in Canada.

I have a few packs of that same Herford beef - now you gave me the inspiration to try it. We have had non-stop rain here since November- much needed after years of drought... makes me feel like I’m back in Seattle. I need to toughen up and get outdoors more.

If you go to the Hereford website, they have a bunch of really easy and good looking recipes. It has been raining here too, but not as bad as other places. 53 and sunny as I look out the window now. Perfect!

As a northerner stuck in the swamp, I’m extremely jealous of your getaway location. Tiger lilies are a once and short lived experience every spring. Kinda like seeing the robins , it’s a sign that says summer is coming. As northerners we value those few summer months & struggle over those partly cloudy with a light breeze under 84 degree day😂 Such a cool hangout & release from the real world bullshit. Reminds me of fly fishing on the pier Marquette. Godspeed & safe travels my friend. 👍

@@YourOldPalFernbark that’s good news, us northerners value our seasons. Had a tree down here and had to remove it due to insurance policy. But it produced some kind of berry & robins would gang bang it within 24 hours. Quite the spectacle to see 500 plus birds pillage it’s fruit.

Ice cold butter, yeah. If I flipped my food like that, I would be eating that stick, because all the contents of the skillet would be in the Solo Stove. As I was think about how good the left-overs would have been the next day, a thought occurred to me. Put the left-over in the Hot Logic to keep warm over-night and breakfast is ready to serve when you're ready to eat.
@YourOldPalFernbark
@YourOldPalFernbark Жыл бұрын
I will have to look into that. The hot logic heats up to 165, which is hot enough to cause the dish to dehydrate without a pretty tight lid. It will take some practice

For canned or retort canned I think Herefords meats are pretty good. Have you ever tried using rust converter on your stove. You just brush it on and when it dries, it turns black. No prep necessary and the rust is formed into a protective layer. I use it for my metal targets. If you wish you can paint over it.
@YourOldPalFernbark
@YourOldPalFernbark Жыл бұрын
I have used rust converter. Not sure I agree with the "no prep necessary". It depends on the amount of rust you have on the item, and the items use will dictate how much you need to prep. For targets, I would say you are correct. Maybe I will get some and do half the stove with converter and half paint. I also can't remember if there are any temperature restrictions on the converter.
@MarkKratzMC
@MarkKratzMC Жыл бұрын
@@YourOldPalFernbark I don’t know about temperature restrictions maybe somebody on KZbin has addressed it. I use it with no problem on my trailers which sit outside with no prep. That’s one of the reasons I asked you about it. Unless there’s excessive scaling. My background is in metallurgy, corrosion control, welding and heat treating. Although this type of product was not available during that time in my career. Part of the attractiveness of the product was to be able to go over the existing corrosion, which converted it into an antioxidant.
@YourOldPalFernbark
@YourOldPalFernbark Жыл бұрын
@@MarkKratzMC I was referring temp wise to the temps a stove would bring. I saw a Rustoleum product that was similar to what you described, but it was only good up to about 250 degrees F. Regardless, you are obviously much more knowledgeable than I, so I shall defer to your experience in metallurgy, corrosion control, welding, and heat treating. I work in grocery stores. What the heck do I know about anything?
@MarkKratzMC
@MarkKratzMC Жыл бұрын
Oh ok. I don’t know about the temp but I do know rust converter doesn’t need prep. I was thinking you can use high temperature paint after treatment. Or if they make a high temp converter.

They charged for a ten pack. The item is non returnable too. My last few food item orders from Amazon have been shorted, or dented. The coffee in the vid was an open box item that was taped shut and had been returned by someone on the east coast. I am pretty much done ordering from that company. I did finally get my money back for the brisket, but it was a huge hassle. The food only had one month left on the best by date, but it was produced a couple years ago, so it was probably best they didn't send ten.

Hi Fernbark, nice to see all the elk. I hope you were refunded for the nine packs of meat that you didn't get. The brisket definitely didn't look too great, but it seemed to work well when you put it all together . A hearty camp meal. Especially if you were to sub the tots for canned or dehydrated potatoes. Doesn't look THAT disgusting.
@YourOldPalFernbark
@YourOldPalFernbark Жыл бұрын
After a long time of hunting the correct path thru their website, I did get refunded. I would rather have had nine more pouches of meat. The one pouch I did receive only had one month left before it expired, so maybe it was best to not have the full ten bags.
