Hello Tej Singh, I just got a new tabla and there is only one string on each gatta (wooden tuning block). I see that most tabla players have two or three strings on their gatta. Can you tell me how many strings are there supposed to be on each gatta? Also, how can I contact you for tabla lessons?

If your tabla sounding good no need to put on more than one string. If gatta foes down to bottom of tabla and you need to tune to high pitch then only you need to put on more than one string. You can e mail me for lessons info tejsinghca at Gmail.com
