Maintain the correct spacing for punishing shakunetsu hadokens with flying lasers. When he gets close, wait for his moves to leave him at minus then punish and use pushback moves to establish the neutral back. I used Street Fighter zoning techniques against him. I haven't beaten him on 10 stars but haven't tried a lot either.

Akuma was always strong in SF because of his offensive arsenal. He was banned from one of the SF2 versions in competitive scene even. In SFV he is Top 3-5 character since launch but I get what you are saying. Akuma in T7 is the beast!

You can cheat Nightmare train by using Gatling gun to force DJ off the train. I always use nightmare train for spam items. So for me, Akuma is more frustrating.
