Pretty much Tekkens 4 and 5 had the best prologues and endings (especially the rival interlude scenes in Tekken 5) which really helped provide the character build and development as well as giving them an opportunity to shine. This is what Tekken 7 lacked especially to the newcomer characters who I believed suffered mostly as they were poorly introduced and does not give them a chance to shine.

if you notice, they are not just random what ifs or fantasy like the other games, these are actually canon and tie into what these characters were doing during T7, or how the story will go afterward(xiao is now kidnapped by claudio to lure jin out, so jin will have to save her in T8)

most of the CGI budget was taken up by the single player campaign where they have a lot of CGI cutscenes for the fights, so the character stories for the other characters are in real time

I agree with you 100%. These characters are warriors, I want the seriousness that we had in Tekken 1, 2 and 3. Treat the characters with respect, they are all threats, anyone can beat anyone at any given time. It also builds more drama and hype that way, anyone remember when Paul and Kazuya were rivals? When Jin and Hwoarang were rivals and their first fight was a draw? Anyone remember these back and forth rivalries that were cool? Please bring this back!

My first game was Tekken 5 so I might be biased towards it, but... I thought T5 endings were amazing (compared to T7 for example), I think I beat the Story Mode with almost every character (well at least with enough characters to unlock every "secret" character) and the endings I got with them were actually emotional/fun, at least for the ~10 year old me back then... take Wang Jinrei's ending for emotional and Law's ending for funny, for instance. I thought that it was a cool addition that they sort of included the "gameplay" in the ending for Law. I dunno. I've always played Tekken MAINLY for the character endings perhaps for the reason that I liked the endings I got in T5. I hoped Tekken 7 had a similar mode since T6 had one too I think (if I recall correctly, you beat a few opponents with it ending in playing against Azazel). T6 endings weren't as bad as T7 in my opinion. tl;dr - T7 character endings were a disappointment, the official story mode with the Mishimas and whatnot was interesting though, although it was short.

So fucking disappointed. Story mode comes down to hoping to not be hit with one fucking rage art, and all the character stories are wrapped up with just one match each! No fun replays in Arcade like EVERY other arcade mode. Once you complete the story mode, the chracters will take you less than an hour, and by that point unless your playing online you got fuck and all left to do except I guess play for hours and hours just to unlock some "meh" customizables I've been a fan of tekken games for a long ass time, and this is by far their most dissapointing product.

You're not the only one. The story mode was simply half of the story & we didn't get any proper character endings. Some will say it's because of budget but if you've been around fighting games for awhile you know that they'll re-release this game under some new name like Tekken 7: Jin's Redemption & they'll add the other half of the story & character endings. Tekken 8 integrates the roster (at least base game but hopefully also the DLC cast) to the main story and also gives every character in the roster a 5-fight episode of hypothetical silly scenarios (ex. Kazuya collecting the world's sneakers and finally fulfilling his sneakerhead dream, Jun camping with Jin and Kazuya etc)

I would've rathered less CGI for the Mishima story in order to have better character endings. The older games truly put effort into making sure each fighter's story was unique in its own way. Tekken 4 and 5 had the best endings, while still telling the story. Ive been playing Tekken since I was like 4 years old. I'm 22 now and these endings are VERY disappointing as a long time Tekken fan. Bring back those good ole rivalries like Bryan and Yoshimitsu or Jin and Hwoarang.

I never quite got why everyone gives shit to Tekken 5 endings... some of them were comic relief stuff yes, but then again there were endings like Wang's and Devil Jin's (the former of which made me feel sad as hell and the latter of which made me hyped as hell, taking into account that I played the game as a 9-12 year old for the most part. And frankly, I don't mind comic relief stuff for characters like Roger Jr or Kuma, they're not exactly serious characters to begin with.

The devs need to learn that they need to put there own favourites on the side when it comes to someones ending. There is no reason that characters should be made asses of themselves after winning the battles, especially seeing as most of these are non-canon or contradict. Like Harada, we get it, you love young girls and kpop but there is no reason why she should be victorious in both her win and loss scenarios. Same goes for Paul.

I'm a Filipino to know the voice actors in the game. Josie is voiced by an American voice actress Ananda Jacobs and she is known to voice Nia at the Pokken Tournament. I would expect her she can speaks English with a local Filipino accent.

Remember when Tekken Character Endings / Stories used to be fuckin great...? Feel like Tekken is one of the games that rather than improving only gets worse. They have such amazing characters with huge potential (story wise) but instead of creating something impressive out of it, they make a joke out of them with 1-2 min lazy ass endings that do NOTHING to the main story. I was really excited to see how many "side missions" the game offered me. Then I played a few and realized it's one fucking fight for each character and a half-assed ending. What a disappointment. The game in general is actually just a big disappointment. The story mode is literally the only thing that felt new and that kept me interested in the game for two days. Yes, two days. After that, I have not touched the game because everything that it has was done better in previous games.

Marcelo Tezza I agree man, it's like Namco was running out of ideas or something because when those endings came up while I was playing the game, I went like: That's it?... THAT'S their endings?!, Those are just alternate cutscenes of a character going against another character and after they defeated them, Not only that, Another problem I have with Tekken 7 is that there is some lack of focuses on some characters EVEN in the main story, and also throughout the main story, this god awful narrator narrates everything that has been going on with him and looking up the Mishima bloodline, and in the early trailers of this game, it clearly said: "The conclusion of The Mishima Saga", but after Heihachi died at the end of the main story, The Saga still continues, Apparently it might conclude if Tekken 8 ever comes out. That is all the complaints I have with Tekken 7, not a bad game, but it needs some work on the story.

I played in Tekken 1, 2, 3, 5 and a bit in one called 5 something(literally for 1 hour or something) and I have to say that I don't have words for THIS... If we talk about graphic then T5 is the best, if we talk about gameplay T5 as well(I just can see that from this video...) If we talk about "ending"... oh my god it's freaking terrible ;_: I wish I could unsee it... I was hoping to see something epic, something badass, a lot of stories you know and basically it was about Kuma and Girl, Girl and Kuma, and literally everything looked that way, this scheme sucked... I liked how in Tekken 5 only rivals had that kind of endings and you could feel the emotions. Here I only feel sadness ;_;

There was a news in my place about a guy on Jin's age along with his group just beaten an OFW photographer to death outside the parking lot and the guy who killed the photographer also wields brass knuckles just like Migz (Miguel). This happens if you rush a game ... I hope they dont rush tekken 8 , just make it good and i am just guessing but here is my guess about the next games story after akuma's fight against kazuya ryu and jin will go there , ryu will fight akuma , he will win and jin will kill kazuya , it will end the mishima's fight but after doing that jin wont be able to control his devil genes and he will transform into devil jin but now ryu is there to stop him . the last fight is ryu vs jin , ryu will successfully beat jin , they both will be uncouncious . Lars is going to be the one who retrieves their uncouncious bodies and the story continues .
