This is like asking why Sakura and Karen in Street Fighter are rivals, where it's the same kind of thing. A plucky and feisty high school girl and a filthy rich princess girl duking it out in a rivalry, only difference between Sakura and Karen with Asuka and Lili, is that the latter 2 aren't exactly friends and Asuka finds her rival persistently annoying. Also, Lili did have a story segment without Asuka involved, in Tekken 6.

Asuka story with Feng was not well used.. Feng even has Leroy as rival now because was defeated by him. While in his special interaction with T8 Asuka he seems superior to her as fighter not taking her seriously. Now with Jun here even sharing her purification powers(even if Asuka does not know it) she is not special for that anymore. Also now we have 3 kazama karate users. I never payed too much attention but the wiki confirms that Lili appeared in more Non-Tekken games than Asuka. Tekken is Superpopular in Europe. Favoritism or... Interest in sales? Perhaps Tekken Team pushed Lili that much to have one European Relevant Girl in the rost. Something that watching certain statistics I think that is working. Zafina is only suspected be from Egypt and Nina has been here since the begin to push her even more.

She was literally sitting opposite Jin in a small inescapable location on the plane and they did not even utter a word to each other let alone talk about their clan or history ...you know the opportune moment to have her be somewhat relevant to the lore or plot but nah, they had Xiayou cut in for comedy again....because a panda couldn't see the effin tablet...bruh Not to mention her whole enmity with Feng is flushed down the toilet with the arrival of Leroy...what is the point? @@zenituragaming5043 When Asuka was first introduced in T5, a lot of tekken fans ( including me ) believed that she and Jin will become the next Jun and kasuya, especially in her T5 ending it shows she also has the similar ability as Jun, even at the time many asked is she related to Jun since they have the same surname, the devs didn't confirm anything other then they just happens to have the same surname by chance, so quite a number of people ship Jin and Asuka, but I guess that idea is gone now since they decided to ship Jin with Xiaoyu as official couple.

Xiaoyu is a prodigy though. She'd been shown taking down Jacks since T5 DARK RESURRECTION. Xiaoyu was personally trained by Wang and Heihachi. At 16, she took down highly skilled men and went past security straight directly at Heihachi, and we know Heihachi was a person that's super hard to impress, but he was to the point that he gave her a panda as a personal guard. Xiaoyu also single handedly infiltrated the Mishima Zaibatsu. Her resume is pretty impressive, so her taking down Jacks is not difficult to believe.

I know folks are upset about Asuka not being involved in the story more, but have you ever considered she might just be not interested in that stuff? She’s always been shown to be a normal teenager (for the world of Tekken) and in terms of being super involved in the Mishima/Kazama conflict, we already have Xiayou and Jun for that. (Also, it took 5 games for Jun to come back and be involved in things, so what’s to say that Asuka’s time to shine is right around the corner?) As for stuff to do, I know that there’s the throng with Feng Wei attacking her father, so I guess that could be brought up. But the thing with Lili is that it’s made VERY CLEAR that whenever something goes down between the two of them, Lili starts it and Asuka has to finish it because Lili won’t leave her alone otherwise. (And even if that makes the two sound like a comedy duo, I think Lili has been screwing around with Asuka’s family dojo since at least the events of Tekken 7. Even if these character endings aren’t canon, all the talk of Asuka being “wasted” just made me want to throw in my two cents even if nobody wants it.

It's not the issue that she 'has' to be involved in the main plotline, it's that Asuka's "ending" is literally just Lili's ending but with Asuka in it. It's been almost 20 years and we still don't know if her situation with her Dad ever got resolved. Asuka doesn't even feel like her own character anymore, but just Lili's friend/rival.

After this ending and the main story mode i don’t want to see asuka on tekken 9 at all! They overused the lili-asuka rivalry so much that’s asuka now a freaking jobber while lili having a rivalry with azucena (the best rivalry namco and harada can give her). Asuka was on a plane with jin and didn’t even spoke with him about the kazama family! F*** panda do more in the story than asuka! Jun very confirmed to be alive and actually recovering kazuya in the ending so they can get rid of asuka if they gonna stick her as lili new sebestian.

The bare minimum they could’ve done for Asuka was let her and Lili fight Feng alongside Leeroy. Namco literally could’ve just had them land from the plane to at least help instead of having them take out Jack 8. @@MegamanZXOmega Don’t get me wrong, I do like their relationship to an extent. The part where they work together to take down Jack 8 was pretty sick was a nice character dynamic moment. The problem is Asuka now only exists because of Lili and has no character or identity anymore. Asuka was supposed to be the Jun to Jin’s Kazuya. They built her up to be a major playing factor into Jin’s character arc in her Tekken 5 ending and they never followed through with that. She also served as a good foil to Jun in that Asuka is a spunky, fiery, albeit dimwitted tomboy, whereas Jun is caring and nurturing and elegant. This could have been used to elevate Jin’s character in ways that mirror each other; Jin sees a lot of his mother Jun in Asuka despite the major differences and they both contribute to him reaching his angel form. She was also supposed to have a rivalry with Feng because she wanted to avenge her father and her dojo. None of these plot points that were initially important to her character were resolved or followed through with. We either have endings where Lili trolls her and she looks like an idiot, or where Feng totally humiliates her. No matter what scenario she is in regarding Lili or Feng, Asuka is always the butt of the joke. And the thing is Jun isn’t even prevalent in the story. She only shows up a couple of times in dream sequences and at the end of the story. So why is she even in the game? Honestly it probably would’ve been better if they either saved her reveal for last or have her be dlc. That way the “twist” ending has more impact. I’m just sad Asuka couldn’t be her own character with her own goals anymore.

She’s not just there to annoy Asuka, but actually did a really nice thing by paying her father’s hospital bills and rebuilding her dojo, showing she really cares about Asuka and genuinely wants to be her friendly rival. The problem is though is that 1. it never evolves past them bickering and fighting, and 2. Lili already seems to have surpassed her given she’s a more active force in the story than Asuka ever has been. Asuka didn’t make it through to the coliseum, but Lili did, and Asuka is just there to watch her. An obscure pachislot game did Asuka much more justice than any mainline game did since Tekken 6. I would have loved if they took the concept of Asuka and Lili teaming up to defeat Feng in Tekken cr, and integrated it into the War scene. That way their relationship grows by having Lili help Asuka achieve her goal for revenge and Asuka seeing her as not just some stalker that was butthurt she lost to her and hasn’t stopped annoying her since, but also as a genuine friend and ally that always has Asuka’s back

Asuka had immense potential to be a pivotal character, yet she’s been significantly underutilized. Even Lili has contributed more meaningfully to the narrative. If they don’t plan to expand Asuka’s role soon, she doesn’t deserve a spot in Tekken 9. Characters like Anna, Julia, Eddy, Christie, and Bruce had far more substantial interactions with Kazuya and Jin, which is especially frustrating given Asuka’s direct connection to Jin as a Kazama. Her presence in the storyline feels increasingly redundant.

This is really Asuka's pov in continuation from Tekken 7 if Asuka wins against Lili in the Iron Fist Tournament then Lili would purchase ownership of Asuka's house and Dojo while in Tekken 8 if Asuka wins the rematch instead of conceding defeat. Lili would go to great lengths besting Dojos in Japan just so she could provoke Asuka then set up a stipulation wherein if Asuka loses, Lili will once again have ownership of Asuka's Dojo through a streetfight. Lili is self-taught in fighting without any formal training yet as much as I used to like this rivalry, it really has become stale because there is no rightful conclusion, it's always a cliffhanger, parody, or straightup Rochenfort nonsense about her one-sided rivalry on Asuka, why ya so obsessed? Lili can't best Asuka because she's a partial fighter, at least her character development has progressed while Asuka is reduced significantly as an extension of Lili.

The only chance the developers have of saving this crap scripting is - Let Lili go off and annoy Azucena as a new plaything, have her do whatever with Leroy. Then have Reina become Asuka's main rival where Asuka gets stronger and learns more through it. Asuka then can be become a better fighter storyline wise, utterly wreck Lili in a final stand off and ditch her annoying ass as Lili can't annoy her anymore. It's funny because in Streetfighter, Karin is my favourite female. she's awesome whereas I find Sakura meh. Lili is crap but Asuka is great.

Im just saying their story, more specifically thier beef with each other, still feels tacked on after several games since lili's introduction. They're not even funny together. It feels Asuka's story has been trying to get traction since like forever and lili seems to keep interrupting it. If she's going to do that then WRITE HER BETTER! i like her but she's annoying in a bad way now, not in a funny-rival-i-kinda-like-you-more-than-that-tho kinda way. Idk

Came here just to enjoy the ending and there's so many Asuka simps whimping about her not being involved in soap operw Jin and Kaz had with each other.... Just understand that it would be way too predictable and you whining about this will not fix anything. Stop yapping and deal with it. Move the hell on.

Understandable if you like the ending. I personally don't want Asuka to be involved in the main plot, but I do want her to have an ending focused outside of her rivalry with Lili, like stopping fights or attempting to settle the score with Fang Wei.

Except y'all been doing this for 20 years since T5 and nothing has changed, not realizing nothing we say about the story matters to Bamco because Tekken doesn't have a story, it has glorified ads with these scenes to keep you buying their video game, the same way toylines run with cartoons of the toy to get kids to ask their parents for more toys, it was never more than that
