I think Omniman and Homelander are in MK and not Injustice is the exact same reason Spawn was in MK and not in Injustice. You dont get to splat your enemies so hard their organs fly out in the injustice games, you dont get to laser someone in half in Injustice games. And they both may be bad superman but one is an alien warlord and a trained fighter from a galaxy conquering space civilization and the other is an easily offended man baby with laser eyes, personality and training can equally influence just as much as raw powers alone

Baraka is one of my favorite MK characters. He looks like a lot more fun in mk1 than MK11. I can't say I will miss having to have gutted and it being the centerpiece of all of his combos.

The stages i think still look good but that just makes it jarring to see these soft detailed backgrounds clashing with these bright, sharp, flat character models.

Baraka is definitely the best character they've introduced so far. His gameplay looks fun and he has the most interesting story out of all the characters they've shown. He used to be an ordinary Outworld merchant until he became infected with the Tarkat disease.

For the Guests I think the complaint around the Superman style characters can be applied to alot of fighting games that manage to work around it. To the average user Ryu and Ken are both 'Karate Men' but their personalities shine through their gameplay, I think NRS can do the same with the Supermen too as personality wise they are very different. Homelander could end up having more in common with Johnny Cage, Being a showboating egomaniac whilst Omni-Man will be a pure brute along the lines of Goro and Shao Kahn. Gameplaywise these could be very different to one another. If we get more guests and they are superheroes. My pipe dream would be a Symbiote from Marvel which will probably never happen, or maybe even The Darkness, The Original Mask and Judge Dredd.

Omni-Man, Homelander, and Peacemaker are definitely for my generation. I'm my in 20's and me and everyone I know that plays MK is extremely excited for these characters. I didn't really have any connection with Spawn, I knew who he was and all of that but he never spoke to me. But these three are probably my favorite guest characters from Netherealm so far. They also work so well because they are from very violent and bloody series.

I'm very skeptical about the possibility of a Japanese character in general, GUNM does make some sense given how brutal things get in this manga, but they take Video Game violence differently. On top of that Mortal Kombat isn't particularly popular in Japan. That's also why I don't see fist of the North Star (despite it making perfect sense) or Berserk (which would make possibly even more sense). Dragon Ball? Flat 0% chance (notice how the DB games even tone down things like future Gohan missing arm, and how the Manga despite it's brutal fight never get into detailed gore and the most violent things in the manga are generally inhuman monster like Frieza or Cell).

The comic book version of The Mask would be an awesome fit for MK’s tone. It gives them a character people will recognize (even if it’s more the Jim Carey version people remember, still recognizable), and the source material is very dark and violent. Another good match that appeals more to 90’s kids/teens would be The Maxx from the MTV series and comic book of the same name. It’s a little more obscure, but tonally and character design wise I think he’d be great.

Ngl I’m less optimistic about the success of project L after this episode than I was before… a few months ago I thought it was going to be massive but now there’s sf6 and so many other exciting games coming out and project L just isn’t standing out to me. Speaking from the perspective of a younger person, in my personal opinion homelander and Omni man are the two most hype 3rd party characters ever released. The boys is one of the best live action shows I’ve ever seen and invincible is a great cartoon. And I think they can actually play very different from eachother. Omni man can be a more Ariel based rush down character cause he has no projectiles and is canonically faster and more combat experienced and homelander can be like a slow bruiser/zoned hybrid with armor good normals and projectiles with his lasers

No disrespect, but I would imagine as someone who claims to have some knowledge of how the gaming industry works, would be privy to the fact that exclusivity deals (and how they work) have been around since the 16-Bit Era where Nintendo had major dominance. There's this thing called Vertical Mergers which involve independent companies (Square Enix, for example) shopping out their property to the highest bidder and if that same company has high market saturation, all the better and incentivizes long-term partnership. That's the Square Enix and Sony partnership in a nutshell. You may not be aware of this, but Square actually did approach Microsoft for such dealings but were turned down.
