The biggest disappointment to me was Jun. The biggest waste in the game. When she was first announced I was so excited. Finally, some of the biggest questions about the lore of Tekken could be answered. What happened with her and Kazuya, what happened to her after being attacked by Ogre, where she's been all these years...and we got nothing. She wasn't even "alive" - just appearing in Jin's mind. So we still don't know if she's alive or dead. And missed opportunities to see her interact with Jin, Kazuya, Asuka, etc. There's so much more that could have been done with Jun that they didn't even give the time if day to.

After you beat story mode, you will get a Jun story in the gallery. It actually explain what happen between her and Ogre. Technically she still alive but in a deep sleep from a lullaby in a hidden cave under Yakushima.

You can cross Asuka from that list, that girl ain’t even deserving the name Kazama anymore, she spent the last 3 games chasing Lili over stupid anime like feud instead of chasing Feng Wei(like her original purpose was in 5) or , I don’t know , get acquainted with another Kazama kin that happens to be the most important person in the world Jin Kazama, teaching him the Kazama style he forgot.

Great story. Highlights Angel Jin and the final clash between Jin and Kaz was superb. Cons characters just vanishing like Yoshi, Hwarang and Bryan from the final battle. Also wish Kaz and Jun actually had a real moment. Also I wish Reina was Kazs daughter instead of Heihachi and maybe her mom could have been Nina lol

Tekken 8 story mode jumped the shark 🦈 (multiple times) in my opinion. I never have high expectations with Tekken's story but towards the end I was getting MK1 ending levels of "WTF" from what was going on and was face palming. I wish the people writing these stories would realize there is nothing wrong with telling a grounded story with personal stakes and not EVERY story has to have world ending stakes to be entertaining. I think Tekken's story peaked with Tekken 4 and Tekken 5. Every since Tekken 6 the story has just been slowly going downhill in my honest opinion. I had some hope after seeing Tekken Bloodlines on Netflix that maybe Tekken 8 would have an interesting story. It's clear they don't know what to do with Jin Kazama post Tekken 6. It would be perfectly fine to tell a personal story between Kazuya, Jin and Jun without the world being thrown into turmoil in ways that completely shatter the suspension of disbelief established by the series in previous titles. The "dragon ball" like fights are silly in my opinion and needlessly create a power gap between devil gene users and the rest of the cast (rest of the cast that desperately need development and proper screen time) I love the Mishimas but there are more interesting characters with the potential for compelling stories and meaningful character interactions. *spoilers* *spoilers* *spoilers* Jin defeated Azazel in T6 only for Kazuya to resurrect him in T8 to become super mega devil and Jin (through the power of believing himself, forgiveness and friendship) becomes super mega angel and then both super mega angel/devil fight in outer space and the end result was supposed to be purifying/purging the devil gene...This story is absurd even by Tekken standards and is reaching bad fanfic levels in my opinion. Worse is not even 5 minutes later the devil gene is back via Heihachi's "daughter." The last thing Tekken needs is another Mishima with Devil powers. If they are determined to continue this whole "devil and/or purification" thing Tekken could explore why the Kazama family could suppress the devil gene. It would have made more sense from a narrative pov that Jin's Kazama blood would allow him to use the power of the devil gene while not succumbing to the evils of the devil gene and give the bs "light and darkness" yin and yang Tekken 8 was going for in the story mode. The whole "acceptance of the past" was a dumb plot point imo. It would be one thing if it was implied the devil gene influence made people do bad things to create chaos to summon Azazel or something but Jin was basically normal until Tekken 6 when his character 180'd and they made him the main antagonist. I did like how Tekken 8 explained Azazel gave the powers of devils to humans👍 Tekken 8 story just shows a wasted opportunity to do world building to make non Mishima characters relevant in the narrative. Jin is my favorite character and all but he doesn't need to be a protagonist in the story. It would have made more sense (to me) for Lars to be the protagonist seeking to get rid of the devil gene and exploring the Kazamas, Zelfina's tribe or Claudio's tribe to find a counter to the devil gene but hey that's just my opinion. I know in the end Tekken has to be a "hamster on the wheel" so Jin and Kazuya can continue to be the face of the series. The story might have been cringe to me (personally) but I'm sure the rest of the game is good and I'll eventually pick it up.

The chapter endings are good in the sense that they are fully rendered CGI cutscenes that look fantastic. They are terrible in terms of lore, as more iconic characters are shown to be goofballs

Honestly, as somebody who greatly enjoyed the goofier endings in the previous games, Tekken 8's fail at even being that, let alone having genuine character development. Bland, unfunny and often repeating jokes that were done better in previous games, these ones were a waste of time. Seriously, compare this Law ending to the Tekken 5 one, which makes the same joke but one billion times better.

While the Story mode was entertaining, it was also dissapointing. Jun is barely a factor and we dont get to see what we truly wanted out of her ( interacting with the Jin and Kazuya and others of the cast in real time). Reina is clearly a replacement for Heihachi and also a stand in for his original character motivations (Gaining control of the Devil gene). While I like her being a omage and being a new gen character rep for Heihachi, but Them giving her his true motivation pre Akuma really put into perspective how this story is STILL suffering from the Akuma/Hachicho(I dont know how to spell that asspull clan's name) And Heihachi face turn. This storyline neutered the ending of this 30 years in the making conflict. When Heihachi was made into a good guy it cheapened his character. Heihachi wasnt the most complex character but he was a great villain. The things he did to his family in the pursuit of power made him comparably a worse human being than 2 people possesed by the devil. Kazuya's character was crippled when they decided to completely scrap the Devil Entity. Instead of the core of his character being the boy who sold his soul to a demon in order to survive and one day have his vengence, He is now the boy who should have died when Heihachi threw him off of a cliff.

Reina obtaining the Devil Gene and transformation also makes no sense because it was established that it comes from the Hachijo Clan lineage which is why Heihachi nor Lars could ever obtain it. In order for Reina to be able to have it she would need Kazumi's daughter or some unknown individual within the Hachijo Clan. The Devil Gene while the most important ongoing plot of Tekken, its also the most inconsistent plot threads too. Its been retconned so many times from being a deal with the devil, coming from ogre/Ancient ogre, coming from Azarel, and coming from Kazumi's family tree. Tekken's story is a mess.

After rewatching the ending, and I don't know if anyone else picked up on it, but that was Jun at the end of the Story mode standing over Kazuya's body. Those are her shoes. Very interesting.

Whilst the story was good there were some weird parts of it. Like bro Feng Wei shows up out of nowhere talking crazy in the huge battle part. Doesn’t show anywhere before or after lol. Not even in the tournament part of the game. It’s kinda lame on his part ngl. I also kinda don’t like how Zafina was also just a plot device. Who gets completely scrapped even tho we know she’s still alive. Didn’t see her again after what happened outside of flashbacks. I feel some few characters could’ve had more time.

I've been playing tekken since 1995 and although tekken 1 is sh*t Tekken 2, 3, 5 Dark Resurrection are the best, tag tournament and 4 are great too, but I personally didn't really play those. Haven't played 6, 7, and 8 and Tag tournament 2

It's disheartening to see what Tekken as a whole has turned into through it's life (I've been with Tekken since Tekken 3) & I have to be honest, it feels like another game series making a cash grab....off of it's long standing fans, ripping apart core characters for really stupid jokes, that do absolutely zero justice to any characters backstory/life. It also doesn't help that we keep ending up with the same "cliff hanger" ending....give it a rest already! I want answers to questions not just flip flopping B.S with Characters, also sick of them taking out characters only to abuse them as DLC later along with the vanity packs/stages. That being said, I absolutely love the gameplay -Martial Art Styles- between all the characters, it's always been a massive fun part of Tekken & most of the series has amazing music. Sadly the story has been poured into really a single bloodline entirely & I mean what happens when they "write" off Jin or Kazuya? who or what becomes the focus of "Tekkens" continuation? We've left out so many prime chances for other characters to step up in my opinion, as a whole where does Tekken go after the Mishama/Kazama story?

The story was good but not amazing. One of my biggest gripes is the addition of Reina because she really is unnecessary. I also don't like how staple characters where left out like Eddy and Lei. They should've been in the story regardless of if they're in the base roster. I am glad that Jin's story is finally over.

Yes, MK1 overall had a better story with character development, depth voice acting, and plot.. but Tekken 8 story is more entertaining because it is just a simple straightforward plot, unlike MK1 multiverse nonsense at the end.

Tekken 8 lost my interest when it was shown its whole theme is now aggression. And that's a shame because ever since I played Tekken 3 back in high school I wanted to play more of this franchise and Tekken 8 looks amazing. The characters have photorealistic graphics, which I tend to hate in videogames because models are plank as wood, however this game makes them so expressive which I absolutely love.

Disagree on SF6 music. The soundtrack is a masterpiece. Did not recycle classic tunes but created new ones for the characters and stages. They created amazing tracks like the menus, Hub World, Victory theme, character creation, stages, ect. It’s very creative. An amazing soundtrack in a fighting game since the early 2000s in Capcom’s peak. All those tracks will classic in years to come. As for Tekken 8 is the same generic techno music they always have. They still haven’t created anything memorable and iconic since Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag 1. People still go back to those tracks.

I will say the character episodes are much better than most of the Tekken 7 ones. I think T8’s joke endings fit much better into a Tag Tournament game than a main storyline game. Customization is better than T7, but…only slightly. Nowhere near on the level of T6 or even TTT2. I really hope they add more items and unique outfit pieces for each character and some more classic outfits too.

Out of MK, SF and Tekken, when it comes to music, Tekken is the most memorable right from the 2nd game and it just kept getting better. What a music that gets you pumped! SF also has some bangers but I haven't played all the games so I could pick only a handful I like but for some reason Japan-made games almost always make sure their music is kosher. Tekken just comes out on top.

My Pros And Cons: Cons: Getting rid of Jin's and Kazuya's devil gene and making the regular humans.(Which the Devil Gene has extensive lore and has been here for the longest time. And instead of upgrading and updating it they remove it.) While allowing Reina to achieve the power, and have it for herself makes absolutely no sense. Building Jin's points of character growth just so that he could accept his devil side, and also us learn that the devil version of him actually has a personality sentience and compassion for Jin, and then after, Jin achieves a new form just for those powers to be gone and die out anyway. In the lead up to the final battle. No Jun and when she does show up, she's in another realm and not physically interacting with Jin. And also at the end when u see her feet next to Kazuya implying that she was alive during the entire game. Putting characters in the game that had spotlight but no attention whatsoever. Having Azazel be nerfed. And then having Kazuya say he surpassed Azazel but yet we aren't shown how. At the end Jin and Kazuya (supposedly lose their powers, but Reina has it so that would mean that they would still have it as well technically.) Jin has the Devil mark still brandished to his arm. The lore of the devil gene and what the devil gene was and is being completely demolished for absolutely nothing. Its like getting rid of the S Or Bat on Superman and Batmans chest, when its integral to who they are. A 2-hour game. When the game should have been longer at least 7-8 hours maybe even 9 or 10 max, I'd say even 11. Getting rid of Angel Gene which was to me one of the most interesting looking forms that Jin has ever achieved. And also what could have been something completely new to the story and his. Not any to no exploration of Jin's Devil side or true devil side. Killing characters off and not having any feelings toward them or no mentions of them and their sacrifice, for example Claudio and Zafina. Having ridiculous motives in the war when u would fight against law or Azucena for absolutely no reason. And giving me an ending that I couldn't see. I already knew Jin was going to win that's not bad but it would have been dope if it ended in a tie. Or something with Kazuya and Azazel happened. Making Kazuya and Jin humans, my appeal in them isn't as regular humans. It was the fact that they were humans but masked their true selves with a human disguise, because underneath they were more. And also once again the Devil Gene is also one of the biggest reasons I liked them, next to them as just being characters on why I liked them. And Jin not only gaining mastery of his powers but also on doing the shadow work and healing himself. And accepting the devil version of himself as him. And it displaying an care and consciousness for Jin that I've never seen. No Ogre Disrespect Of Law No showcase of Asuka or any other characters. And no exploration of Jins internal powers that he talks about. Or even no more exploration of the devil and or angel powers. Meaning no other forms varieties types and more that he could have achieved from it. Same for Kazuya. Pros: Tekken Force Choosing who u wanted to fight as in the tournament. A good story for the most part, which has holes in it. (I'll list any dislikes or likes that I may have later... I do hope the devil gene does comeback because Tekken would be really stale. Especially if Reina still has it now.

According to sense of fairness and justice, I think Jun shouldn't tell Jin to save Kazuya. It is equal to selling her value and principal. Also, Kazuya has been consumed by the devil gene for a long time. He had committed a lot of crimes (more than than Jin had done) Let Kazuya not die, and have a 'happy ending' with Jin and Jun is CRINGE. It is equal to giving Sindel a bad retcon in mk11, and allowing the evil guys to continue committing the crimes. Also, Jin has committed the crimes. (He isn't as evil as Kazuya though) He shouldn't be forgiven like that in the story. After watching the story, I want to ask 'Where is justice? Is it fair?'

Right there with you on the story. Story makes all the fights more engaging and meaningful. You are more in there if you know what's at stake. It's something that game developers grossly overlook, not completely, mind you, but it's been long since I really felt it in a game.

I standby Tekken 4 set the whole story of this franchise for Greatness. But Tekken 5 was the beginning of the silly nonsense. The intro was legendary but the contents after that? No. Alot of the character interactions, were unearned and RUSHED LIKE HELL

Everyone complaining about Law but I’m more pissed about how they did nothing with Asuka. Like, there’s a scene where she’s on the plane with Jin, I think the first time they’ve ever been in the same room canonically, and she says nothing to him. Xiaoyu gets to console him for Jun’s disappearance but Asuka’s just silent. Why even have her there if you’re not gonna give anything to do? Why make her a Kazama if she’s gonna be completely disconnected from the family story? At least Jun got to encourage Jin and help him out with his inner conflict despite not even being physically there.

I know i am kind of late to this review because i discovered your channel recently and i must say that i like your channel and the videos you made about Law were truly awesome! So about this review, I agree with you on the majority of the points you've mentioned in this review but i would like to add a few more points to the cons section: #1: Lack of offline content (like team battle, time attack, and survivor mode). #2: Somewhat bad online netcode. #3: A lengthy story mode would have been better in my opinion than this Tekken 7 style story mode.

Nah overall it was a great play. My two favorite moments were the Tekken force mode in the story mode (that shit took me back to Tekken 5 and 6 👀) and of course Jin going back to play with his Tekken 3 Mishima style as well as his Tekken 3 music in the back 🥹🙌🏾

that cusmazition is locking am thinking hoping they bring more in the dlc's am grateful jukebox made it back. need more practice with the new system mechanics. I heard they already working on the online issue those services are jackpack. and why they remove the Win and losses also the replay in each end of the round. i was thinking the same all fighting games should have jukebox.

I wish they added more depth to the character custimazation as well atleast a larger variety of this to use or the ability to move things around a bit more than the current limits. But i get that they dont want people to have to much freedom as it could get out of hand and be exploited to make it harder to see characters attacks etc. Would be nice if each DLC has alot more custimizations added though.

⛈️TEKKEN 8's best tracks, in my opinion, are the Customization music, the French stage music, Midnight Siege stage music, and Rebel Hangar stage music. I'm glad that the story has given 🕶🐶Leroy and 🕶⚔️Raven some more shine. I'll pass until they add my #1 🐤🎷Bruce Irvin though.

What would they have built the story between Jin and Kazuya around without Azazel being part of it? It was a reason they added the Azazel possession lore to Zafina in T7 beforehand. I do hate how they only used her as easy pawn for Kazuya to get is powered up Azazel devil form.
