you mentioned tekken is a game that a party of people could just enjoy while spectating, and it's totally true. my brother and his girlfriend brought me to a party where there were so many hipster looking people i'm pretty sure the whole mini mansion (and yeah, mini mansion is accurate) was so packed with fedoras and togas that i instantly started ignoring anyone who didn't look normal. anyway, we popped tekken into the playstation on the ridiculously massive tv and challenged the partygoers to matches. most of the people there had no idea what tekken was, and only a slight idea of what fighting games are. (they've heard of either street fighter or mortal kombat) the host picked Eddie and absolutely ruined me in multiple matches through sheer button mashing. it was one of the best nights of my life. people came by, cheered, left to find drinks or head to the basement where the stupidly large mound of marijuana resided, and i just played tekken while people partied. they came by, called out bets on the winners, and generally just enjoyed watching the game in between their indiscretions.

Man, sounds like a helluva party!!! I'm glad Tekken was the lubrication required!! Maybe Mr Coombs should have stuck on a good fighting game. 😄
