I'm unable to snap the object. it is just snapping the edges or the lines. It isn't allowing me to draw over the surface. can you make a video on how to use the object snaps effectively?

Press Ctrl 2. Better modelling and detailing in transparent view mode. Also check you snap tools.👍🏻
