Teknatool have updated the Supernova 2 chuck again

The dots on the Supernova 2 chuck jaws or as it seems to be called in America the Lite Nova, are a new feature that Teknatool have added to make it easier to change the jaws.

I bought a Supernova 2 a month or so ago (in the US) to replace a lefty-tighty chuck that I had disliked for years. Ain't nobody got time to fool with a backwards chuck! 😄 Teknatool (NOVA) also spiffed their little brother chuck, the G3, with no numbers and dot indicators. Having used both the G3 and the Supernova - I think they are both good chucks. Cheers!

Makes a lot of sense to me. The Jaw are made independently of the chuck after all. If the carriers, and their holes, form a perfect circle then the jaws can go on in any order other than how accurately they are cut into 4. As I have a variety of jaws and chucks from different manufacturers I've been thinking about marking all the other jaws the same way so I don't have to remember which way to fit the jaws to the chuck (i.e. Record and Nova, one clockwise, one anticlockwise).

Pretty sure that it doesn't matter if number 3 is next to or opposite number 1, Carriers have to be numbered as they have to fit the scroll, but if the jaws are machined accurately (which they all are these days) they will be good in any order. Same as the Patriot has been for a decade or more

Isn't this the same as before technically? Just that instead of numbering clockwise, you just match up dots instead? So it's not like the chuck is any different? ....It can't be, else you wouldn't be able to use new jaws on an older chuck.

What they are saying is that you used to have to start on jaw carrier 1 and match jaw 1 with it. Now they are saying it does not matter which jaw carrier you start on and that it does not matter whcih jaw goes on which jaw carrier. Shay

I would assume so, I must try it tomorrow. I think the only difference is that you don't have to be so strict with the first placement as you can basically put it anywhere. Shay
