Medium wave does not use the the whip antenna, it uses the ferrite core ant. Use the ferrite core attachment that comes with the Tecsun AN-48X Active loop Antenna.

You have a lot of RFI (probably coming from crappy switching power supplies, or energy-saving lamps, computers...). In a electromagnetically quiet environment, the Tecsun AN works well.

A loop antenna has it's null through the hole so it works best when the signal is parallel with the flat side. In other words hanging it on your window like that is nulling signals coming through the window. See ARRL Antenna Handbook.

Hello Robbie the AM Antenna is build in and it called "Ferrite Antenna" this Antenna is with a long wire coil to receive the Mediumwave. Best Regards Volker from Vienna

I never understood why some radios only allow the external antenna to be used for shortwave and fm. To get around this you need to get something like a tecsun an-100 or an-200 and connect the external antenna to the jack on the loop antenna

In the connections that thing you didn’t know what it was... the plug in does not effect the medium wave, it is picked up by an internal ferrite antenna... that little wand end you hold up to the top of the radio or put in the radio holder behind it and that syncs up with the ferrite antenna inside...

The am antenna is on a loop of wire inside radio,separate from the fm, shortwave jack.

Yes and that's what that stand and the little block looking thing is for, you lay that in the stand at the height your ferrite antenna is in the radio case and then lay the radio on top of it. Works reasonably well.

Basically, there's no easy way to do SW listening in big cities. This antenna isn't even available on Amazon Canada. Simple wire loop just feeds all the appliance radio noise into your set. So sad! Setting up ML30 needs 4 different kinds of jacks! If you're not a hardcore radio enthusiast, good luck trying to just enjoy some SW listening, it aint happening for you!
