Mauritians used to use explosives to get fish quickly. This destroyed the corals. Maybe they are still doing it. People in general so not care unless there are punishment. I doubt if the Mauritian authorities care about these issues.

I was mentioning the fact that Mauritians used to fish with explosives destroying all marine lives and corals in some areas. There is no control in Mauritius. Free for all. Soon the island will disappear under a ton of sewage and filth

I think day by day the Mairitian govt & it's people r becoming aware of the environmental degradation & ecology.So all these menaces will become things of the past & it is immerging as great economy.
