Got few ideas, maybe you use some of them: 1) Main square marker - placing one will set area similar to guard post, but this one would attract merchant(s). 2) More merchants in exchange of lower product variety - so you get 1, 2, 3, 4... merchants (depending village size) each offering 1-2 different products. Would love to see caravan with llamas... Together with point 1) this would allow to bring even more life to village. 3) Merchants offering high-end "green" products in exchange of emeralds would be also a nice thing to have. 4) Tavern could attract nomads. I find it natural that traveling person will look for place to rest. 5) Also, adding beds to tavern could bring low % chance that nomad will stay for a night in exchange of emeralds (left on bed like hearts or in tavern chest). Would love to see any of these added. And if not - this mod is still marvelous work *.* Keep it going!

Tango you should add a block or a new NPC in the town hall that allows you to see the "History" of the village. Basically acts like a log for the events in the village that allow you or other cooperative players to control big sized villages. You could filter thing by importance, like the most important could be deaths, new buildings, nomads recruited or newborns and new adults to the least important like a guard took damage, skill improvements, very sad or very hungry villagers... At some point with 30 villagers its going to be difficult to track every event in the village. Maybe make the teacher the historian. Good work on the mod looks fantastic! Lots of luck on this project!

Blacksmith as next one! Villager tools is much more important as we already have a chef to make good foods. Food "could" be better but tools need improvement as food has been already improved by chef.

sry 4 my english btw I have an idea. What if you add thieves to the game, just like merchants and nomads they spawn at the outside of the city and they come wandering in but only when you got gold and diamonds in your city. (If you have a lot of diamonds and gold there is a bigger percentage of chance thieves will spawn.) When they get close to the storage room they put on a disguise (something like a mask or a bandana in front of their mouth). And as soon as they pick up an item a bag appears on their back hanging from their shoulder. When he leaves the building guards will instantaneously recognize the thieve. The walking speed of a thieve is a little bit slower than the guard so the guard can catch up but not so much that thieves don't stand a chance. (95% the walking speed of a guard maybe 90% you will have to test that) Guards have a small chance they detect thieves before they stole anything (the higher level the guard the higher the chance he will detect the thieve before he steal anything)

TekTopia has so many possibilities beyond MineColonies!! I can't wait for it to be available to play!! One of the things I would like is for you to see the name of the villager and their title under that. This could be a mod config option. To denote their skill level, they could have Apprentice, Journeyman, Master and Grandmaster before their title. Nomads might have their highest skill under their name. IE: Apprentice Farmer, Journeyman Lumberjack, Master Miner, etc. or Farmer 2, Lumberjack 26, Miner 51, etc. Another item, probably requiring an Ender Pearl to make would be a Mayor's Staff/Book/Tablet that would allow the Player to locate a specific villager or where a specific Villager died. This would be very useful as the village gets larger and larger. This item would contain Villager stats such as name, title, level, health, happiness, and current (or last known if dead) location. One of the higher skill tokens that can be placed on an Unemployed villager (the skill title of a villager who has been to school in the village) would be a Vendor. This person could work in a General Store (attached or unattached to the Warehouse/Storage building similar to the Chef and the Tavern). The General Store would need trapped chests within it. The Vendor could only sell those items placed into the trapped chests WITHIN the General Store. This would allow the Player/Mayor to place "rare" or excess items into these chests for trading. A Vendor would have a better percentage chance of getting a better trade deal with a Travelling Merchant. The Vendor would need to be at least 5 blocks from the Travelling Merchant to sell any goods from the trapped chests. This allows the Player/Mayor to block the Vendor off should the Player wish to do so. A Warehouse Manager could be another higher skill profession--especially for a village transitioning into a town. He would maintain a certain amount of inventory (per default config.; 9 stacks of every item) and he would provide the Vendor with any excess items to sell. He would then pick up any emeralds the Vendor had acquired during trade with the Travelling Merchant. There should be a way to eventually make a village into a town and have multiple warehouses and stores. This would probably lead to the Architect and Tradesman having their own building--probably along with the Treasurer who would collect the emeralds from multiple Vendors. Similar to an Ender Chest, The Treasurer could also have an Inventory to "safe keep" special items for the Player/Mayor so other Players on a multiplayer server couldn't steal them. The Inventory could be scaled from a few items such as a "lock box" to a huge "vault". A config. file option would set the various sizes of the Treasurer's Inventory. The Treasurer's Inventory could be enlarged by paying emerald blocks. I'm unsure if the village Cleric would or should be able to bring villagers back to life or remove the zombie contagion from villagers. Certainly the Architect, Tradesman and, if you implement him/her, the Treasurer should come back to life since they'd be the backbone of the mod. I guess it would depend upon if the game is in Single Player or on a Multiplayer Server and which config. options you provide.

The villagers can't leave the bounding of their village. If they were to wonder into someone else's village it would cause them to become part of it. Now you could mod it so a merchant is spawned and wonders to the market, which "magically" takes items from someone else's village to sell, in return that village get emeralds. I do however think it would be just as easy and better for you to manually trade with your fellow players.

I have a few ideas for this mod: 1: The Hunter class defends the village with bows and it and the Guard can collect mob loot. 2: The Mage class casts spells to defend the village and can brew potions. 3: The Druid (or Mage) can summon iron golems to defend the village. 4: Clerics work and pray in a Temple/Church structure. I would be very happy if these are included in the mod.

I had an idea that for further on in the game maybe there would be like an interior decorator that would craft chairs, beds, maybe hang up paintings and put in flower pots and the decorations and better furniture to make their happiness go up faster! Just some few suggestions: *Add an item to make the village enter somewhat of a "state of calamity" or panic mode. When is said state, the player can choose which among the necessities they will prioritize (eg. Food or Protection/Mobs). This "panic button" will allow all villagers (except children but it is recommended to make this configurable) to do tasks associated with the priority (eg. if it's food, the villagers will farm). Of course the villagers who do not have a profession related to the priority will do horribly at the task and will not improve. And to make this even less OP, the villagers will continually loose happiness when this state is enabled. *When the guard reaches a certain level, the player can choose to either turn them into archers, knights, or have enhanced attacks by the use of magic or something. *When the mod gets updated to 1.14 (this can be done at 1.13 if wished), make the raids more difficult as the village grows. Make the raids significantly harder with the mod enabled.

You should add an extra protection mod, with like... The iron golems can't be summoned with blocks, the enchanter or the druid would need the itens and something special, so it's harder to have a golem, but they can be super buffed, and so they would help the soldiers, just a recommendation, love your vids!

maybe the druid could summon earth golems, basically less powerful iron golems. then, periodically, if you have both a at least level 90 blacksmith and a level 80 enchanter, the blacksmith could build an iron golem and the enchanter could make it alive.

How PC intensive is this mod by chance? It might sound silly but I have seen mods singlehandedly murder my CPU. Also how does chunk loading work for the villagers? Will the village still function if you leave to go explore? Or are you going to have to become a helicopter mayor?

Hey tango, I have two ideas for your mod So the first thing is about the way farms are detected; If I understood correctly you calculated the chance whether or not the farm gets farmed by (size of farm)/(distance to storage) But maybe its better if you also multiply this function by the percentage of crops that have actually matured meaning the function would be: (Size)/(distance) x (# matured crops)/(size) Meaning that if a farm has all plants completely matured it is more likely to be worked on I don't know if that's how your code works but it's an idea I had Also my second idea: If you implement the barracks maybe you could also implement a instructor who teaches the other guards how to fight How I see that villager work is that only villagers with some levels in the guard skill can be appointed as instructor And the efficiency of the learning is decided by both the level in the guard skill and the level in the instructor skill meaning seasoned warriors train young recruits better. Anyway those were my ideas, loved the video keep up the good work 😊

Instructors should just be a boost. Maybe ‘veterans’ to the town guards with higher levels than the ‘peers’ should just be another mild boost. Also wouldn’t instructors have levels? Do the instructors need instructors? The veterans seem more logical.

@@PromoCraft-rz3vz I have no clue how code works because I'm no programmer myself, I just thought it might be interesting to give farms with a lot of grown crops priority over ones with almost none, but that might just be how it works, I wouldn't know And I was thinking about the instructor more like a trainer, the one that oversees the combat training during the day and that's why I thought it would make sense that it's depended on their own combat experience, also gaining the skill in the instructor class would more work like a teacher gaining experience from learning in my opinion Having the veterans giving a boost to the less experience once seems like something cool tbh But that all is just my 5 cents 😊

I actually can't understand _every_ bit of code from *every* single program. Your explanation is a more algebraic view on things, and that's how programmers think when they deal with probability.

A small suggestion: Make merchants sell 'district markers', which are basically blocks that are used to mark the corners of a district. A district would be a zone that gives small bonuses to yield of its type. For example, mining district would boost the ore yield of mines within it, an agricultural district would boost crop yield, etc. Love your mod btw!

I have suggestion: Villages should have random skill drops. I think that Villages with skill level 100 are too OP, and intelligence is not important as it should be. Solution for this is that Villagers will randomly lose some of their skill in the current profession. This will happen more often if villager is unhappy, an he will lose more skill higher his skill level is. Skill drops will make intelligence more important, because higher it is, faster will villager get to 100 again. Tango, if you see this please reply and say you will/wont add this. I like the system with villager items vs. "normal" items. My suggestion would be that it is not hardcoded how much better villager items are (by now they are three times better) but rather that it changes with the size of your villiage. So it may start with three times and as soon as you hit like 10 inhabitants the noumber goes up to 4. This way your village needs to become more and more independent of you as a player while still maintaining the player interaction. If you like this idea pls like so Tango sees it. PS: sorry for my English ;)

On the contrary, it could be made that normal player-created items are just getting worse with increasing village size. So that at the start it's a good help to get things going, but later on it's going to be rather useless if you do not keep your village's econemy in mind. :)

I like the idea of the item durability scaling, but I think it should scale with the proficiency of the villager that collected it, not with the village population. You could also have it so the Merchant will pay more for high quality goods.

Could've used a DataFixer to convert the old modid (edit: registry id) to the new one. I recommend looking into both DataWalkers and DataFixers. They're often overlooked, but very useful. (Edit: also..this is a great mod...looking forward to seeing it in packs!)

Hi Tango. Was thinking another good building to add would be a barn/storage shed that is worked by a logistics villager. This Villager can transport goods from the barn/shed to the town centre. This would prevent building stacking due to trying to keep resource areas close to the town centre and would be a great opportunity to introduce the donkey to help the villager transport goods. 😊

I have an idea that could make finding stuff in the storage room much easier: 1) Have the ability to create multiple storage rooms. 2) Have the ability to control which professions put the items that they produce in that storage room. Not each individual chest, the whole building. This would only be for putting items in, not taking them out - any villager could take any item out of any storage building. There are a few ways I imagine you could implement this: A) right-click on the storage room label (the one in the item frame above the door) and have a GUI pop up to let you select which professions to allow; B) use a profession token on the storage room label, and maybe have it show next to the storage room symbol; C) drop a profession token on top of one of the chests in the storage room.

Since this is going to be on a server, a war function might be good later on. Like one village going to war with other villages. Maybe a hotel so villagers from other villages can visit, and it gives an extremely high mood buff.

I think you should do the Blacksmith next, because you're running into a huge problem with villagers needing better tools or tools only the Blacksmith can provide, including the Butcher. That said, I'm totally pumped to play this mod! I can't wait until it's finished, keep it up!

Two things 1- Village border, requires two on diagonal corners. Villagers will not wander outside for resources. Not required, but keeps gatherers safe, and multiplayer slightly less competitive (Miners would be able to go outside of it in their mines) 2- When right clicking guards there is a safe list, where you can mark players as safe. Anyone who isn’t on that and is a player will be attacked. The person who hired the guard is automatically on it. (Maybe able to be synced across all guards?)

I have a few ideas for villager professions in the game: Tax Collector: Collects 1-3 (based on skill level) emeralds from every villager with a job every 7 in-game days. However collecting money will hurt happiness, but provides a sustainable source of income. If your village has everything it needs and more, a tax collector is very good, but having one with little professions and villagers can make them very unhappy. Carpenter: This is a late game expensive villager. The carpenter makes, and places redstone contraptions. These can automate farms, mines, etc. However, carpenters will only apply these to building that are marked with a replaceable marker. Artisan: This villager is mid-game villager. The artisan makes paintings and other things to place around the village that improve comfort and happiness for villagers This can help make our village look nicer, and keep morale up! Mayor: This villager is really good but expensive. The mayor improves work ethic and production when near workers. The mayor also can give public speeches that up happiness when it is low. The mayor stays in the town hall. Wrangler: This is the horse rancher. The wrangler will get horses that can be used by guards, improving their speed to get to emergencies, and attacks faster. The wrangler will feed the horses wheat, and apples if they are present in storage. Potion Seller: This is very late game. The potion seller sells potions that can buff workers, whether its using strength on guards, speed on farmers, or health on anyone injured. The potion seller uses materials stored in the storehouse. This would also mean farmers need to farm nether wart! Travelling Bard: This is a bard, but it travels around. It would only appear if our villages happiness is at an average of 30 or less. The bard can be used for you by trading with it to get "Bard" at the cost of 3 emeralds. The bard will play and then leave at night. Explorer: This villager is super useful. It would wander around but every three days after the last expedition, it goes on an expedition to get things. The explorer can come back with treasure, tokens, and more! The loot depends on the level, along with how long the expedition is. Explorers have a chance to die on a mission, but giving them gear reduces the chance! Nether Villagers (not really a profession): This would be an assigned task to villagers to gather resources in the nether, they would have swords armor and more to protect themselves. This would help with potions.

I think there should be a new mob in this mod: the Dictator. Naturally spawned villages will be "ruled" by them. There are only 2 ways to "get" a village: 1. to kill them 2. to buy the village for more emeralds than you can find in the world (the price will greatly decrease if you have TNT in your inventory). Note: The Dictator is a neutral mob that also acts as a boss. They will only attack if the player attacks them first, or if the player gives items to the villagers. Note: They will use guards as their minions. Note: If your village grows powerful enough, nearby villages with active Dictators will offer to become "partners", providing more efficient trade and exchange of resources. Downsides: 1. You will not be able to trade with travelling merchants 2. If you refuse, they will become agressive.

Five Ideas: Addition to the Nomad upgrades, said in the last few videos, I think you should add random happiness levels! Also, you could add a Sanity Level, where the more they work, the more isolated they are from other villagers, like a miner is, and the darker areas they work in, like a miner or a guard, the more they lose sanity. Another way they could lose Sanity, is, say, for example, a guard could lose Sanity and happiness if they accidently don't defend the village enough and another villager gets hurt. Another example is if farmers don't produce enough food, and a lot of villagers lose a lot of hunger. Less Sanity would decrease the amount of happiness they gain, education boosts, lose hunger faster, and even in serious cases, cause them to go on strike for a few minecraft days or kill the villager. A lot of Sanity could increase the amount of happiness gained, like how education increases the amount of skill points gained. Interacting with other villagers, sleeping, and being at parties could increase Sanity levels. Another idea would be to add stationary guards, protecting specific villagers. You could add an item where you right click on a guard, and on another villager, and the guard's priority would be to protect that specific villager. This would help a lot with miners, because even at daytime, their workplace is still dark and dangerous if they run into mobs before they can repair the tunnel. A guard could be there to help the miners and druids. If Villagers cannot use scaffolds, I think it would be a big improvement if they could. Add a new villager called the Doctor, who heals damaged villagers. Maybe, although I doubt it, you could also add a Psychiatrist, who boosts people's happiness during the day, while the Bard boosts people's happiness at night.

You should make some sort of inn where nomads and villagers can stay when they don't have a home. It would be able to generate emeralds for each room used by a nomad at night, and it would be another place to find a travelling merchant and to recruit nomads. Of course, it would be a late game thing, but it sems more realistic because you'll see lots of people at an inn when they're traveling, and who knows. Maybe they would want to join the village! Maybe it could be an addition to the tavern...

NEW JOB SUGJESTION: Transporter(working on the name) all the villagers that make or collect items will now put them in the nearest chest (if you have one of the transporters) and he will go around and collect there stuff from those chests and put it bring it to the storage and its item carrying copasity depends on lvl it will reduce the time it takes farmers and stuff to get crops

Idea for farm plots: What if the priority for farming each plot was based on how much of that item is in storage? IE: You have a lot of carrots but no wheat, the farmers will focus on wheat until they even out. Loving this series and mod!

After you add barracks you need raids! Pillages that aim to steal from your storage, or a zombie apocalypse that attacks and infects your villagers. And maybe some other bosses, like a Skeleton Queen, or if you open the casket in the mummy tomb (from another what-if) a mummy might come to attack. These could be limited to after you get a certain amount of villagers, or guards.
