Excellent video, I love the detail and your explanation on how the circuits work, I've been an engineer since 1980 and it's refreshing to re visit some of these circuits since I have forgotten some, and I'm also a Tektronix junkie.

Having repaired nearly every brand of T&M over the past 50 years I can say that the presenter is doing a fine job. Since he has no idea of the level of proficiency of the viewer he has to assume that those watching do not have the same level as he. So keep up the good work. These are fun scopes to work on as you can (unlike some) get real service information on them. Tek and HP manuals contain a wealth of information that can be used as teaching tools. One can learn a lot from just reading the circuit descriptions and perusing the schematics!

Thank you so much for this comment! I always try to give a clear and understandable explanation so that everyone can succeed in repairing these devices. It's just amazing how much you can learn from the service manuals. They are like textbooks. I also have many of the Tektronix circuit concepts books which are also great resources. By the way, is that Jim Williams next to you in your profile picture?

@@MrVideoTronix I just picked up a mint 2232A from a friend who no longer needed it. Unfortunately it works 100%.

Yes, the tek's schematics have the voltage of several points, the bias points, frequencies and at all. It's a excellent starting point.

Your excitement is infectious Very COoL. Good job! Love hearing your "circuit analysis".. This is a nice scope - A/D? I didn't realize that Tektronix had one of these. It sounds like a must-buy. Way more InTeReStiNg than your typical Rigol scopes. You truly have a appreciation for these classic scopes. Who wouldn't want to SUB? p.s. And you explained it all in a 2nd language, AMAZING. Cheers from So.CA.USA 3rd House On the Left

Great video! I don’t really work on these types of circuits but understand the terminology so I enjoyed your clear explanations. I use a simple 2235A and thought it might be similar but yours is a/d - I’ll have to look for that! Also, in the states that Fix-x is called “correction fluid” or “White-out” ;)

Great video! I have one of these in working condition and recently calibrated. But the repair was straight forward and made fairly easy to follow what you were explaining. Thanks

I know this is a year old but someone else may find it helpful. Remove the rear panel, then remove the screws on the chassis. This includes the 4 on the external interface unit, one under the scope, and one larger one of the side. Then you push the unit out from the case from the rear.

Anyone interested in repair of Tek equipment can go about twice as fast. This video, has some interest, but is just too slow. You're not explaing to children.

Agreed it's a little slow, but he does go into details and is probably too excited at the outcome. :) Now to figure out a fix for the skirt for the knob on CH 2.
